I find their theories interesting. From what I see in this interview, and in other interviews with Howe, I believe they perceive Obama as part of the solution, rather than part of the problem.

Their way of looking at history is novel but I think some of their analysis is colored by a Progressive philosophy.

I love how the democrats use the word "progressive."

Whenever the democrat party uses this term to describe something, I instantly think of Stalin's agents massaging the language in their communist newspapers.

Both the communists and democrat party are disgusting organizations, and they will never fool me.

The Boomer Generation goes from 1946 to 1964. So Obama isn’t a Gen X’er, he’s a Baby Boomer. Not to mention America’s first defacto social engineer potus. FDR and LBJ pale in comparison to Obama. As it is, the liberal elites from academia think they’ve struck nirvana.

Interestingly, Sarah Palin is closer to Gen X than Obama based on birth year.

Progressive Christianity

We are surely in the end times and dealing with a really evil and wicked agenda.

I am particularly offended by this odious statement:

“It is true that the author of John’s gospel does place the following words in Jesus’ mouth: ‘I am the way, and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me’ (John 14:6) It is important to remember, however, that these words were written for a religious sect that was a persecuted minority cult, struggling for survival in the first century. Those same words, written with a specific purpose, would have had a very different feel for the first century Christian than they do in contemporary times. However, since the fourth century and the advent of ‘Christendom,’ these words and other quotations from the book of John have been used by the church and the state as a source of power and control through their exclusive nature. Christianity and ‘correct belief’ were the only way that one could find salvation. The church became the exclusive broker for tickets to heaven.”

The “author” of this text betrays that he/she/it doesn’t really believe Jesus said these words when he/she/it says they were written for a first century cult (as opposed to the truth, which is they were spoken to the world for all time). I would hate to hear their twisted view on Paul’s speech to the Athenians.

One example of the Hero archetype is the G.I. Generation, the soldiers of World War II, who became an institutional powerhouse after the war and then in old age confronted the young hippies and protesters of the 1960s. Going back in American history, we have seen many other Hero archetypes, for example the generation of Thomas Jefferson, and James Madison, and President Monroe.

“Progressive” is an old term used by the Left. During the Reagan years I had a neighbor who insisted that he was a progressive, not a liberal, as liberal wasn’t far enough left to describe him. He was a professor of political science at one of the California universities, and during Democrat administrations he would go on sabbatical in order to work in the government. Bureau of Land Management as I recall.

I prefer to give Obummer to Gen X. We Boomers get blamed for enough as it is.

The “1964” date has been heavily disputed and 1960/1961 is the “new” accepted time frame.

I was born 5 days before the Bastard In Chief and I am *definitely* a Gen Xer.

“Matsumoto, 31, and other members of Generation X — born roughly between 1961 and 1981 — have been hit by an economic double whammy. While much has been made of the plight of older baby boomers, in less than a decade many Gen Xers have taken a hard spill off the Internet wave and now have been knocked down again by an ugly recession, one of the worst on record.”

I am, however, married to a Baby Boomer [or War Child, as I call him since he was born in 1943]

We’re totally different animals.
He’s all about Elvis but I prefer Billy Idol, the *real* MTV and the Reagan Years.

[and I still wear my sunglasses at night]....:)

I believe they perceive Obama as part of the solution, rather than part of the problem.

Well, and this has been discussed elsewhere - Beck for one, that Zer0 is part of the solution. Not because he's a good American (if he even is one), nor that he's a good POUTUS, or that his policies will help us.

No, No & NO!

Rather that, because of who and what he is, he has awakened the American People. If McCain and Sarah had been elected, would that have happened? Would I, and a friend of mine, joined a million of our fellow Americans in the 9/12 March on DC?

Nope. Probably not.

The wakeup call was long overdue. And oddly enough, Zer0 was the one who made it.

So in that light, and only in that light; Yes Zero is the solution. Now all we have to do is hold on for three more excruciating years, and pray we still have a country left to save.
