INCREDIBLY, Air Traffic Control Reported Flight 77 as Having CRASHED -- NOT as Hijacked

The FAA's report of the hijacked flights on 9/11 (2001) reveal something quite interesting.

www.gwu.edu/~nsarchiv/NSAEBB/NSAEBB165/faa7.pdf

Air traffic controllers controlling Flight 77 processed Flight 77 AS A CRASHED AIRPLANE -- NOT A HIJACK.

ONE OF THE MANY REASONS THAT FLIGHT 77 WAS NOT INTERCEPTED WAS BECAUSE AIR TRAFFIC CONTROLLERS BELIEVED IT HAD CRASHED IN OHIO OR WEST VIRGINIA

Looking at pages 27 and 28 --

8:40 AM Flight 77 crossing West Virginia was handed off to Indianapolis Air Route Traffic Control Center, and instructed to climb from 17,000 feet to 35,000 feet.

Flight 77 reached 35,000 feet sometime between 8:40 AM and 8:54, probably closer to 8:54 AM.

8:50 AM Last radio communications from Flight 77 with Indianapolis, which is a routine navigational instruction that Flight 77 acknowledged by radio.

8:54 AM Flight 77 starts a left turn without authorization from Indianapolis ATC and begins descending sharply from 35,000 feet

8:56 AM Filght 77's transponder and radar image BOTH cut out simultaneously.

FLIGHT 77 IS NOT SEEN ON RADAR UNTIL BETWEEN 9:25 AND 9:30

FLIGHT 77 DISAPPEARS FROM RADAR AT THE SAME MOMENT ITS TRANSPONDER SIGNAL CUTS OUT, WHILE BEING IN A SHARP DIVE, RAPIDLY DESCENDING.

There was also no radio contact with the pilots, either on the air traffic control radio or on the American Airlines operations radio system.

THE SIMULTANEOUS LOSS OF BOTH A RADAR IMAGE AND TRANSPONDER SIGNAL, AT THE SAME TIME, and the fact that Flight 77 was last seen descending rapidly, with the loss of radio communication, LEADS AIR TRAFFIC CONTROL TO BELIEVE FLIGHT 77 HAS CRASHED.

This could have been from a bomb. Air Traffic Controllers had heard the hijackers on Flight 175 say over the radio that there was a bomb on board. So the behavior of Flight 77 could have been caused by a bomb.

NOTE ALL OF THIS IS RECORDED. RADIO COMMUNICATIONS, PHONE CALLS, CONVERSATIONS, and RADAR IMAGES IN THE ATC ARE ALL RECORDED.

So there is no question about any of this.

Indianopolis ATC contacts SEARCH AND RESCUE and the WEST VIRGINIA STATE POLICE to search for a CRASHED aircraft.

NO ONE NOTIFIED THE FAA HQ OR NORAD OF A POSSIBLE HIJACK.

Note that Flight 77 was then heading in the exact opposite direction of its flight path. So no one was looking in the right place.

9:24 FAA HQ is notified of a possible crash of Flight 77.

It was not until sometime between 9:25 AM and 9:30 AM that anyone found Flight 77 again on radar.

Between 9:25 AM and 9:30 AM air traffic controllers in the Washington Dulles airport radar room picked up an aircraft flying low, approaching from West Virginia at very high speed. The Dulles Terminal Radar Approach Control for Dulles airport picks up a large aircraft flying Eastward very fast with no transponder signal.

9:33 AM The radar room traffic controllers for Dulles airport notify both the White House and an operations supervisor at Reagan National Airport (much closer to the city than Dulles).

9:38 AM Flight 77 crashes into the Pentagon.

So effectively, traffic controllers at Dulles were able to provide only FIVE (5) MINUTES warning of an approaching aircraft.

Meanwhile, at this time, NORAD was searching for Flight 11 NORTH of Washington, based on misinformation from the FAA.

People wonder how could an airplane disappear from radar?

Most of the conspiracy theories are based on assumptions about the omnipotence and perfection of government systems. How could a "PERFECT" system make a mistake?

And yet for at least two decades, we have been told how AWFUL the air traffic control radar system and related computer system are. Air traffic controllers, air traffic controller associations, aviation experts, consumer activists, etc., etc. have been warning for at least two decades that the radar system and its computer system are a decripit old dinosaur, putting the flying public in extreme danger every day, requiring complete replacement. (The computer system was recently replaced, but was embroiled in scandal for not solving the problems and not working properly.) We are told what a disaster the equipment is that air traffic controllers have to suffer with and endure.

And yet when it comes to conspiracy theories, suddenly the Re-Victimizers assume that all of this equipment is infallible and can never make a mistake.

Well, yes, there was a lot of confusion that day and the FAA and air traffic controlers were at its epicenter in many ways. No suprise that they made some mistakes, is there?

No, but getting the anti-American conspiracy theorists to understand that is difficult.

The fact that the Air Traffic Control Center reported Flight 77 as a CRASH could perhaps be a CLEAR, undeniable explanation of why fighter jets did not intercept it. There was nothing to intercept. It was believed to be smashed into the ground.

So perhaps this could be clear enough for the doubts to understand.

While this is a little ‘out there’ for an FR thread, this is standard fare for the Left.

They are nuts and live on this stuff.

That day, the nearest fighter units that could have responded were the D.C. Air Guard at Andrews - but there were no fighters armed for response. The first fighter units that COULD arm and take air patrol were the North Dakota Air National Guard, which was on annual training at Langley AFB. They were relieved by the First Fighter Wing, flying F-16s, later that day. (I heard them on my multiband radio on the Potomac Approach channel).

So, how were they to shoot down a plane with only five minutes’ warning? Or 15?

Truly the unsung heroes of that day. Had anyone said the night before that the FAA was going to call a full unplanned, unrehearsed, unannounced, untrained for ground stop of every aircraft over the United States and Canada in a matter of a few hours while dealing with an airborne attack on the United States, no one would believe it would be possible let alone doing it with out losing a single aircraft.

Well said. They did an unbelievable job that day. Many devoted professionals prevented many, many deaths that day.

“That day, the nearest fighter units that could have responded were the D.C. Air Guard at Andrews “

The nearest armed fighters were actually the Alert fighters on Cape Cod. They did launch against the PA airliner and were cleared to engage/destroy it. Of course the brave passengers solved that one. I’m sure the guys in the F-16’s were glad to not to have to shoot down a US airliner....

I agree with the others, it looks like Jay Rockefeller, Dale Carnegie, and Sung Young Moon, or whoever, got together and laid out the perfect plot...and we have DISCOVERED it.

I suspect you know this and are teasing, but Dale Carnegie died in 1955.

Yeah, they thought flight 77 was also a different flight!

Good grief...anything to keep the hatred and confusion up......always the ‘boooosh’ did it crap.

Understanding the events of that day through ATC would have been a real-time task that was understandably....misunderstood. The only people who had even an inkling were the souls trapped on those aircraft. Even then it would have been unimaginable.

“I suspect you know this and are teasing, but Dale Carnegie died in 1955.”

Yea - I was just making up names to have fun with the tin-foil hat types (maybe I should have included Richard Mellon Scaife, and Carnegie Mellon University...just to close the loop). Rush admits to being one of them, long ago, and then he started asking questions and the answers got so twisted that he figured out what a crock it was.
