Are the Teabaggers the New Hippies? Do I Look Good In This Zot?
This is not a blog ^

Winston Churchill is often misattributed to the quote "If you're not a liberal when you're 20, you have no heart. If you're not a conservative when you're 40, you have no head." I believe these words from Sir Churchill, a leading figure of Tom Brokaw’s Greatest Generation, quite ironically sum up the generation that was to succeed him in history (the baby-boomers), had he actually been the one to have said it of course.

The idealistic hippies of the 60’s fought for change to bring about a society so open-minded it could accept everything and everyone, but now the Teabaggers of the Present fight against change to provide only for themselves and their own vision of the world.

From the path of young Communists to aging Objectivists, this group has essentially become a mix of the worst parts of their parents’ generation and the generation they were in their youth. They kept the passion of the 60’s and combined it with the irrational fear of change from the 50’s.

I have been saying that they are the conservative version of the hippie.
It’s funny watching the liberals complain about the protests when they in fact help pave the way for the modern protester.

I laugh. Ha. Ha.

I certainly hope you are not discussing people involved in the Tea Party movement with the derogatory term “teabaggers”.

The anti-G (pick an ever increasing number now at 20) protests are the modern hippies: Smelly, leftist and likely stoned.

The Tea Parties are about the only protest where the grounds are cleaner when the leave than when they arrive. If you have a broken window they might even reglaze it for you before they're gone.

"Teabaggers" refers to a sexual activity. Ask your Mom what sex is.

The participants in the Tea Parties come from multiple generations. Had you actually been to one you'd know this.

It's "Sir Winston," by the way.

No - hippies are the shiftless scum who wanted to screw and smoke everything and anything, and not be held at all accountable for any actions. They are avowed communists and provided nothing but anarchy to this country. At least the “Tea Party” protestors have the wits about them to understand freedom and overtaxation.

Sorry but the pathetic attempt to sink the Tea Partiers to the level of hippies has failed epicly.

No.

The TEA rallies are focused.
They are clean. The people are clean.
They are free of violence or vandalism (except for disruptors).

Nobody is there “for the experience”. Attendees are either elderly (hard to get around) or have to take a day off of work. They are there because they don’t like the direction that the Federal and state governments are taking.

The hippies that I knew were either druggies or communists. Most were lethargic and would only get organized for drugs. Some would protest and destroy public property supposedly for political reasons but mainly for drugs. These people are trying to run the government but they have so little experience the only thing they are any good at is using drugs.

“I believe these words from Sir Churchill, a leading figure of Tom Brokaw’s Greatest Generation”

Wasn’t Churchill a bit old to be part of the Greatest Generation (I’d fight them for that title, by the way, if I didn’t hate everyone else my own age)? He was like 65 when WWII broke out. Which means he was 18 before 1900 rolled around. I guess that makes him part of the Sucky Generation that fought in WWI, crashed the world economy, and generally screwed things up for the Greatest to clean up.

“they in fact help pave the way for the modern protester”

That’s preposterous. Contrary to what movies and tv shows teach us, hippies did not invent rebeliousness. There were protests before. One can say, at most, that the hippie legacy is seen in contemporary leftist protests, especially those on campuses and against the WTO and G20, for instance. You give them far too much credit.

So that’s the standard? Both challenged things? Both protested? I guess I’m like a bear, as well, because we both have teeth.

We have to move away from this romanticization of the hippie. He is not the only historical rebel, and not even a very good rebel at that. Turned establishment in the blink of an eye.

The hippie liberal believes this whether it be true or not. The hippie liberal is now having to take a big drink of conservative protest.

Whether, it be pure propaganda, or not, the left has USED this tactic for years and now are getting a taste of their own medicine.

I sent Joel a reply urging him to read “The Road to Serfdom” and “Liberal Fascism.” It’s clear that most conservative-haters like Joel have absolutely no idea what modern conservatism is about. In short, they’re pathetically ignorant. No use getting too mad at them, as you would not get too mad at a child because he doesn’t understand why he has to obey the rules. Explain the rules in a moderate voice, so the child can understand.
