I believe we are in a war to save our country. I also believe that in order to win it, we need to do 3 things. This is the first in a 3 part series of those 3 things. The first step is to answer these questions for ourselves....
I wake up each morning and prioritize. In May of 2001 I became a single mother of 3 children. My youngest were 2 girls; one less than a year old, a 2yr old, and an 11 yr old son. I have never received a dime of support from my ex-husband. I had to learn to prioritize. I spent the next eight years refusing to date and concentrating on my children. I made many personal sacrifices, but learned a lot about myself.
Each morning I remind myself of who I am. The first thing I am is a woman of faith. I believe I have a creator. I believe this creator has endowed me with certain inalienable rights, such as life, liberty, ownership of property, and freedom. I also believe that my creator knows best how we can protect ourselves from the evils of this earthly world. He wrote a handbook. Unlike the handbook that comes with the new DVD player, I actually read this handbook, it is called the Bible.
The second thing I am is a mother. I believe that I have been entrusted with the care of three very special little souls. I am not raising children; I am forming and shaping adults. I have a duty to them. I have inherited a wonderful gift. I was born in a free country. I often wondered why I was born here? I could have been born in any other culture or country. Why did my God choose me to be blessed enough to be born in these United States of America? The answer I have come up with is that He believes I will live up to the responsibilities that come with such a great blessing.
The third thing that defines me is that I am an American. Being an American is not about being born within a certain border. There is no special fairy dust sprinkled upon the earth of our 50 states. Being an American is about a spirit living within ones soul. There are many people not born within this border (but respected our laws enough to come here legally) with a greater spirit of America than many of us who were born in this country. The American spirit believes we are all capable of greatness, and we willfully and personally care for those unable. Charity is giving of yourself, not hiring government thugs to forcefully take from those more successful than you to give to those who dont want to work hard and earn their own way.
I have come to realize that the above definitions I give to myself causes others to label me right-wing and even extreme. I use to believe them, but not anymore.
I AM MAIN STREAM!
Main Stream America understands that corruption is a bad thing for our country no matter what political party, corporation, industry, or special interest group it lives within. Main Stream America understands that if they take $100.00 from their own pocket and donate it to the local church food bank, that 100% of that $100.00 will go to provide $100.00 worth of food on a familys table. Whereas $100.00 confiscated by the federal or state government will be chewed at by one government agency after another until a mere $35.00-$40.00 will result in food purchases at a local grocery. Main Stream America understands that it is our Declaration of Independence and our Constitution that has allowed us the protections needed to flourish and be a prosperous nation of wealth; not politicians, attorneys, or laziness. Main Stream America understands that only an informed decision based on truth is a foundation for good self-governance.
These concepts are not extreme right-wing. These ideals are MAIN STREAM.
I believe in God. I believe in family. I believe in our founding documents.
