Palin pulled no punches, and the old-guard Republican country-club set must have felt like she landed one right in the groin as she wrote, "And best of all, Doug Hoffman has not been anointed by any political machine.
Peggy Noonan must have been overcome by the vapors upon reading that line, but it got better as Palin continued.

Gosh, I think Sarah is not looking for RINO support in 2012. Hope she plans a third party run.
“third Party” is a killer whether it be with the Republican or the Democratic party. Ross Perot is the best example of what I am talking about.
.
She letting the GOP know when she leads the party, it will be a Conservative party, at least while she’s there.
Palin and Perot, no comparison! She would outperform him. Wallace ‘68 too.
That was my thought before you posted it.
If a real third party were to come into existance they could do really well. Independent won’t cut it, it says that you don’t know where you stand on any issues.
Lots of performers are really good but very few win the Oscar.
From C4P:
With her endorsement of Doug Hoffman, Sarah Palin has taken a stand in solidarity with the gathering storm known as the grassroots movement in this country.
The disaffected conservatives, conservative libertarians, common sense independents and blue collar Democrats (aka Reagan Democrats) who are mad as hell and not going to take it anymore always seemed to us to be former Governor Palin's natural base constituency.
These are the the people who have turned out for TEA parties and Townhalls across the country, but there are many more of them who were not able to demonstrate, but feel the pain none the less. It's a big step for the 2008 GOP vice presidential candidate to take toward earning their trust as the national public figure who best voices their concerns.
The Republican Party at the national level is hopelessly infested. It needs to go the way of the Whigs. (The Republicans WERE a third party in 1856. Four years later they won the White House. 2012 will be crisis time too.)
I disagree about the RINO support. People like a genuine leader. Sarah didn't focus-group this. She didn't have someone associated with her send it out as a trial balloon. She didn't wait to see which way the official party leaders would go on the question as people grumbled. Governor Palin wrote it with her name on the announcement. Obama named himself "the decider" ... I think out of an appreciation for irony given how long he takes before deciding ... but Sarah Palin is the real thing. It won't surprise me if she carries more support than Reagan did, including moderates and the few patriotic liberals, when she tosses the socialist out of our White House in 2012.
As for a third party, I doubt it. Palin may lead the GOP back to the values that meant something, from the top of the ticket, or she may support other conservatives in the other races, but I don't think she would risk giving us another four years under the evil thug who currently occupies our White House. BTW, if it's a choice of Sarah in a third party in November 2012, or a RINO who won't reverse the destruction of Obama's reign, I'm voting for Sarah. I just don't think she'll do that to our country.
Let me try a little logic (or common sense on you dreamers). Say the Republicans are 50% and the Democrats are 50%. Now, the Republicans split in half. That makes 25% for Rep. 1 and 25% for Rep. 2. of the third party. Now who do you guess will win the election. Let me take a wild guess here and say the Democrat. I hate it when I have to resort to facts to make a point, don’t you?
There is a tidal wave building and it isn't going to be good for the Dems or the GOP.
We just need to vote the person, not the party and we might be able to make it out of this death spiral. with very few exceptions, EVERY single incumbent has to go, the good ones can stand on their merit.
There are some great people stepping up across the country in Local, State and National races, we just need to get 'em in there and pump the corrupt cesspool!
“’third Party’ is a killer whether it be with the Republican or the Democratic party. Ross Perot is the best example of what I am talking about.”
This is not a presidential race. Third parties can win SOME elections.
The Republican Party was once a third party. It came to prominence and power in the midst of political turmoil. We see political turmoil developing right now. The Whigs diminished in no small part because they were seen as weak and wishy-washy. The GOP isn’t yet perceived as being as feeble as the Whigs were but they are rapidly headed in that direction. And things are developing so very quickly. Who knows what the political landscape will look like next November let alone in 2012?
Interesting times.
The odds may be against the Conservative, but he's my only hope in this race. I'm in!
I think most voters in a presidential election are completely up for grabs. If it’s Obama v. RINO v. Sarah, she can draw from conservatives and from the vast number of working voters who don’t identify strongly with any party. The ones who rate Congress as a total mess. They think both major parties are full of baloney.
That's why I'm voting Whig again this year. You Johnny-Come-Lately Repubiclienaists (or whatever you call yourselves) are just a bunch of splitters!
