What the Hoffman Endorsement Says about Palin & 2012
Gov. Sarah Palin for President 2012 ^ | 10-24-09 | Bill

Posted on 10/24/2009 4:54:09 PM PDT by euram

Sarah Palin went rogue this week and joined former GOP senator Fred Thompson in endorsing Conservative Party candidate Doug Hoffman over the crazed liberal Obama-mama and GOP establishment candidate Dede Scozzafava for Congress in the 23rd district of New York. Newt Gingrich and many part leaders continue to stand behind the GOP nominee in the election under the banner of "party first, principles second."

This was a softball for Palin. She made her bones in Alaska taking on the GOP establishment. She will remind people of that and attract independent minded voters by this endorsement.

Gingrich lost me when he sat on a park bench with Granma and gave credence to the AGW scam. I thought then that the GOP is in real trouble when stalwarts of the 90’s start acting like McLame. Sarah has come around to remind us that there are political leaders that get it. That gives us hope.

Well Newt is hardly our enemy. But he made a big misstep on this one. Better for Newt to just stand aside if he wasn't willing to endorse Hoffman. Newt is a pretty astute politician and we owe him for the work he did in 1994 when it was his leadership that allowed the Republicans to take the House back from the Dems.

That being said, he has been outfoxed by our favorite gal and he now knows it. If he is smart from here on out he will wait until Sarah Palin makes her call and then do the same. There is place in a Palin Administration for Newt Gingrich if he comes around. If not then he will be, as they say, welcomed to the dustbin of history, the same place that is waiting for His Majesty, Our Leader.

Newt, Newt, Newt. I’ve gone from high regard down to lost respect down to practically loathing. Newt, you used to be a smart man, what the hell happened. Too long in D C does it every time.

I miss Tom Delay and I'm not impressed with Pete Olson who finally took back TX US-22 over the incumbent Democrat.

...I'm in TX US-22. I keep yelling at him to make a difference. ..still a bit timid.

Newt sure has changed. ...and not for the better.

I could be wrong, but I can’t see any of these veteran Republican hands, Gingrich, ROmney, Giuliani, etc. being too happy with ANY place in a hypothetical Palin Administration.TO A MAN, they’ve avoided doing or saying anything about her, that would indicate they’d like to help boost her into Phase 2 of her political career, especially if it looks like it might lead her into the Presidential nomination. For her part, if she gets that far, I’d like to see her give back to those whose egos didn’t get in the way of supporting her.

That's because they all dream of becoming President of the United States. When the reality that Sarah Palin is going to be the Republican nominee in a Republican year sinks into their thick political skulls they will change their tune. I would give Giuliani a shot at Attorney General. Romney should just go retire. The Massachusetts health care fiasco was the final nail in his coffin. Newt Gingrich could be Secretary of Education with strict instructions from Palin to reduce it's budget by 25% per year and then to kill it as an institution.

Many people make the point that Thompson, Armey, and Bachmann endorsed Hoffman before Palin. So Palin’s endorsement is no big deal.

Let me give you an analogy. Suppose your house was burning down and your neighbors dropped by and rescued your only child from the house, took him outside but found he were consumed by the smoke and flames and rendered unconscious.

The neighbors were unable to revive him.

Then a doctor passing by administers medical treatment and is able to revive the child.

Armey, Bachmann and Thompson were the neighbors.

Palin was the doctor who revived the child to give him life. And that is what she did for Hoffman.

Do you live in Alaska? I do and have been watching Palin since early 90’s. Sarah decided long ago not to burn her bridges to repub party; back when everybody wanted her to do a 3rd party run againt Murkowski after she narrowly lost in primary. She refused noting all her running would do is ensure the dems win. Corruption in Ak with repubs & dems is wide spread. She said she would clean the mess up and she did. Most repub voters up here supported her too. Palin will change the repub party, not cause another presidential loss to the dems. Look it up.

You are spot on.

What most don’t know or forget, Doug Hoffman is a Republican.
the other day, he said to Neil Cavuto on FOX,
he is a “Conservative Reagan Republican”

He will also caucus with the Republicans,

Newt is a pretty astute politician and we owe him for the work he did in 1994 when it was his leadership that allowed the Republicans to take the House back from the Dems.

Newt parachuted into the cab of the locomotive called the freshman class of 94 and claimed to be driving it.

The Repubs took the House back from the Dems with a clear mandate for real change before Newt did anything at all. What Newt did was adeptly redirect that energy into his ridiculous "Contract With America" that ensured no real change would actually happen.

Newt is an Establishment weenie. For crying out loud, we couldn't even get rid of the Dept of Education.

The only thing we 'owe' Newt is a tar and feather job.

Not So the contract was a good thing and Clinton signed off on the majority that was passed BUT it didn't have a thing to do with the GOP taking congress but delusional Newt still thinks he did it See my above post

I hope you’re right about cooler heads prevailing in 2012 and egos going by the wayside. We can’t afford to give the Zero another 4! As for Romney, I was shocked when I heard Ann Coulter pick him as the next potential pres. (As I recall Hannity was asking who she’d pick right now). With all of the mess coming out of Congress on healthcare and R.’s past on this issue I don’t see any future for him as a true conservative candidate. Ann did say he’d have to come out in front on this issue and deal with it. How can you deal with something that leftist, though - and convince conservatives you aren’t a RINO in conservative clothing?? I just don’t get it. Maybe someone here can convince me - or at least explain it!

To All:

Newt is a politician.

Newt is an Opportunist.

Newt is a “finger-in-the-wind” type.

Newt needs to understand that he is not the center of the universe.

He is old news.

:-)
