In recent years, the Vatican has taken another look at some historical figures and begged "Mea culpa" for what they have viewed during the history of the Roman Catholic Church. Galileo, Charles Darwin, and Oscar Wilde have all been reappraised by the Church, and now it appears that Karl Marx has joined the list.

There have already been multiple threads on this topic where its been refuted. Two primary points:
1) This is the personal opinion of Georg Sans, a German-born professor of the history of contemporary philosophy at the pontifical Gregorian University;
2) as reported by LOsservatore Romano, the "Vatican" newspaper. Neither Professor Sans nor LOsservatore Romano is "the Vatican", in fact far from it.
This is classic liberal media trickery to falsely make a headline read "the Vatican" when it is no such thing (and they know it but go forward with the lie anyway)!
And already filed under "utter idiocy". ... Rocky
My problem with this thread is that it's another blogger that posts a link to his blog where he wants us to have a discussion about something that's already being discussed on FR. Also, there is no link to FR on the blog.
Note the sign up date. Someone simply pimping hits on their blog.
yea. and “black and gold” (think Steelers) sucks.
My apology to BlackandGold for using the wrong FReeper name. You get a free pass to diss my Bengals now.
I'm a Bears fan. Benson sure got revenge yesterday, didn't he?
Sheesh, clobbered by the Bengals. Who'd a thunk it. :)
I've watched way too much of the opposite type of play over the years. Cedric was on a mission, Carson was lights out accurate and the defense was relentless. I wondered, who was that team?
I’m relatively new to FR, so I did NOT know that there was already a thread discussing this issue. Sorry, but I’ve got two special needs kids to take care of and don’t have all day to view what’s being discussed here. I posted this ONLY as something that I found interesting. Whether it got discussed or not is of no importance to me.
A link to here is, of course, something I should’ve remembered to do. In that respect, you have a point.
Pimping hits for my blog?? No need for that. I blog as an outlet from the pressure and frustration of dealing with autism (times two) on a daily basis. Whether or not anyone reads is, again, of no importance to me. Is it nice? Yes. But necessary to stroke my ego? No. Please make sure you understand where I’m coming from before you accuse me of doing what some other people may do.
Our church has plenty of Marxists in the Catholic Universities and in the priesthood around the world - hard core ones, too. Like zero, nothing of Christ or the Church dampens their zeal for total control and oppression.
The Pope has expressed his desire for National centralized government’s wealth redistribution to “help the poor.” Wealth redistribution is National socialism; some would call it fascism. The Pope has also flirted with the UN being a global central government for taxation and wealth redistribution among nations to care for world’s poor people. That would be global communism.
I think the church should have learned by now that left wing redistrbutionist ideology comes with the iron fist of oppressive and amoral social ideology and that it is the faith of Chruch that is crushed in leftist societies with strong central governments.
It is irritating as heck to me when I hear stupid priests advocating for a Nation’s oppression in the name of helping the poor. I think it is the church’s that should help the poor rather than pawning off their responsibility onto leftist centralized governments. The Christian faith is just about dead in socialized Europe. Enough of that already!
