Perry Reacts To Cheney's Endorsement Of His Opponent: 'I'd Stick With Sarah' Palin
TPM ^ | 10-29-09 | Eric Kleefeld

Gov. Rick Perry (R-TX) is brushing off former Vice President Dick Cheney's endorsement of Perry's primary challenger, U.S. Sen. Kay Bailey Hutchison -- saying he'd rather have his current support from Sarah Palin.

Perry touted an upcoming endorsement from Mississippi Gov. Haley Barbour, as evidence of Republican support. Perry was then asked if he would rather have Cheney or Palin, who endorsed him back in February.

Perry's response: "I think I'd stick with Sarah."

I still think Perry is a tiny bit better than KBH, he hasn’t been drinking DC water for 8 years.

Why would Cheney endorse KBH!? She’s a rino and a half.

My guess is probably because they are personal friends.

but not unexpected...

What ever led you to believe that Cheney was a limited government type conservative? He may be a hawk but that does not qualify one as a limited government conservative.

There are plenty of folks in North Korea for example that are very hawkish on national security, however that does not make them limited government type conservatives.

That could be the only reason but still not good enough - not when it comes to our country and the impact she will have on it. Cheney is the BIGGEST disappointment - he lost more ‘friends’ with this one.

My guess is that KBH is probably a Bush cronie that Cheney owes a favor to. Now the media is trying to hype this into a war between Cheney and Palin. Last I heard Palin was going to head for TX early next year to campaign for Perry before the primary in March.

He’s also not a social conservative - at least not in the area of gay marriage because of his lesbian daughter ...

This would be the Senator from Texas who will willingly leave her elected position to campaign for yet another elected postion - causing us the expense of another election and possibility of losing our representation to a liberal. I wouldn’t vote for her if Perry pulled an illegal boy out of his closet and married him. (ok, maybe then...)

Perry would like to brush off the money that Cheney will raise for Hutchison but he can’t. This event is a fund raiser which is essentially featuring Cheney in Houston. With his Houston and other Texas connections, CEO of Halliburton, Kellogg-Brown-Root and others he’ll bring a lot of cash for her. Cheney still has sway with the oil/gas/construction industry in Texas.

You don’t think a liberal will win the special election, do you?

I would like to hope not deport - honestly - but I live in a highly republican county and the presidential/dictator election was almost 50/50.... scary as a pelosi sex dream.

I like Cheney, but when it comes to endorsements, I place a hundred-times more value on Palin’s.
