In a Wall Street Journal column last week, Rebublican columnist Peggy Noonan reveals to us that were a nation adrift. Millions of productive Americans, she says, are despondent about the direction of the nation. In melancholic, heartfelt tones she explains that many Americans feel alienated by both political parties, and yearn for an as-yet-to-be-found leader to offer hope for their despair. She laments:
[P]eople are becoming and have become disheartened
this condition is reaching critical mass, and
it afflicts most broadly and deeply those members of the American leadership class who are not in Washington, most especially those in business. .. The most sophisticated Americans, experienced in how the country works on the ground, cant figure a way out.
They do not think [current leadership] can make it better. It was almost as if Noonan woke up this week and discovered that theres a Tea Party going on. Well, welcome to the party, Ms. Noonan!

Peggy Who?
Leader? We don’t got no steenking leader!
I stopped reading Noonan years ago. She’s a bitter RINO at best.
I once admired Peggy Noonan but now do not care what she thinks or feels.
I second that.
I was curious and read Ms Noonan’s piece. PN you are still dead to me.
I want, I demand, and, as an American, I am entitled to a government that secures my INALIENABLE rights. I don’t want the government to give me health care, welfare, education, housing, minimum wage, automobiles or banking services. I don’t want them to tell me what to eat, what gun not to buy, what light bulbs to put in my house or how to sneeze. I don’t want to explain every minute financial detail to some bureaucrat. Don’t take my money for anything BUT the securing of inalienable rights. Leave me alone.
Well said.
“Peggy who’’? Noonan. Peggy Noonan. You remember, Miss “Thousand points of light’’.
RIGHT ON PILOT!!!!!
Yeah! Don’t get me wrong; I love Sarah Palin. But if the Tea Party Movement gets a leader I’m out of the TPM.
Hoozah!
I lost respect for her during the Bush years. She began to bash Bush at every turn. Granted he did things that got the ire of many conservatives up but he never down talked America.
Now she is waking up..well well.
Exactly what we don’t need is a leader. We need an idea, freedom, to galvanize us.
The only thing I really fear is a new Great Leader.
If we had a great awakening to those ideas, America would once again become that "beacon of liberty," that "shining city on a hill" your boss, President Reagan spoke about with such eloquence and admiration! Do you remember him?
Then honor his memory by writing about the ideas he understood and articulated during his Presidency. That's what our young people need. They need the inspiration that comes from understanding the difference between liberty and tyranny, and then having the freedom to choose for liberty.
To allow America to drift backward into the darkness of tyranny when so many generations have given their lives to keep the flame of liberty burning is shameful. The voices who advocate for a form of slavery to government power must have their ideas exposed as counterfeit and destructive to freedom. That's what Ronald Reagan would be doing, and that is what those who go by the label "conservative" should be doing.
Has anyone here actually read Noonan’s essay in today’s WSJ or are you here to inform the world how you despise Peggy? Well, guess what, the world doesn’t care what you think, but Noonan has readershiop and influence, and her essay was right on the money this week!
God bless Sarah Palin. Jim Treacher on twitter (JTlol) had a comment the other day: Isn’t it amazing that after all the attempts to find scadal on Sarah that they’ve found nothing?
A Noonan fan? LOL
