Pelosi's Civil War: The Battle at Watertown
It's a Kwazy Life ^ | November 04, 2009 | Tom lamb

For crying-out-loud, Rep. Nancy Pelosi has come up with another zinger...

As if her calling out we were losing 5 million jobs a month wasn't enough, the leader of the House is calling out the race in upstate New York a victory.

On the point of it being a victory, she's right, literally, the Democrat won.

However, meshed in with the fact that a Democrat won, Pelsoi had to expound on the victory by blowing it out of proportion by stating this:

From my perspective, we won last night. We had one race that we were engaged in -- it was in northern New York. It was a race where a Republican has held a seat since the Civil War, and we won that seat.

As I pointed out in this thread, the demographics of the area was not indicative of a conservative win but the start of the conservative revolution.

Because when you look at the area and the demographics, this is what you come up with:

John Gilbert 1960-63 Democrat Redistricted to the 22nd.

Charles Buckley 1963-65 Democrat Redistricted from the 24th.

Jonathan B. Bingham Democrat 1965-73 Redistricted to the 22nd.

Peter A. Peyser Republican 1973-77 Redistricted from the 25th.

Bruce F. Caputo Republican 1977-79

Peter A. Peyser Democrat 1979-83

Samuel S. Stratton Democrat 1983-89 Redistricted from the 28th.

Michael McNulty Democrat 1989-93 Redistricted from the 21st.

Sherwood Boehlert Republican 1993-2003 Redistricted from the 25th. Redistricted to the 24th.

John M. McHugh Republican 2003-2009 Redistricted from the 24th.

According to the history books, the district has been chopped up so many times (according to Lawerence O'Donell it will be redistricted to favor Democrats again), most of the candidates that represented the area were Democrats.

Moreover, the election had a low turn-out (my bet is there are people who sat out and didn't vote for Hoffman, thinking he had no chance, wishing they had voted now) and you had a conservative candidate who three weeks prior to the election had no ground game, only a message and took out a liberal Republican who had a ground game, 1 million dollars to her campaign and damn near beat an organized Democrat who has a history of Democrats winning in the area, so that speaks of a true civil war brewing between the liberals and conservatives.

Now if the history books are correct, in the late 80's and early 90's, there was no Civil War, but according to Rep, Nancy Pelosi the district hadn't seen a Democrat since Abraham Lincoln.

However, given what has happened in upstate New York, and the fact conservative voters are growing in numbers, there was a civil war between liberals and conservatives that started in New York and the battles between the two ideologies will be waged in other states.

Hence the title of this thread and you have a civil war born and a battle has to have a title.

Call the conservative revolution and its civil war; the Battle of Watertown.

It was a battle that was lost by the Republican generals, not the conservative voters, and it is a conservative revolution that will win in Pelosi's war that has been enabled by the liberal press.
