3:20 PM, 11/5/09... Shep Smith of Fox News Just reported that there has been a mass shooting at Fort Hood in TX. Shep indicated that 7 are dead, and 12 have been wounded. Supposedly, the shooting occurred at the "Soldier Readiness Center" and at least one person is in custody...

AP and Fox now reporting 7 dead and 20 wounded.
BSNBC is reporting ALL MILITARY, which means shooters are military.
Reports are the shooters are in uniform but that means nothing, yet.
GED program at Fort Jackson was simply called Army Preparation School (APS). Soldier Readiness is for troops readying to deploy.
Wonder if the shooters are Sunni or Shiite? If there really are 2 or 3 shooters,, it’s a better than even bet.
My son just left for boot camp on Tuesday to FT. Benning. His mom is already freaking about him going. Just wait until she's hears about this. I know its not the same fort, but that ain't going to make any difference to her. God protect our soldiers!!

Very sad indeed, my gut tells me a good policy would be to withhold extreme opinions until enough information is available. Although if the government and military attempt to withhold factual information, such as names, background and affiliations then all civility is off the table. A good example would be if names are associated with those who represent Islam, Mexician or un-American interests should be exposed. For to shut down a major base, and have a number of incidents happen at once, sounds a bit planned.
Fox News has the wounded up to 20 now. The article stated the count may fluctuate since the situation is still fluid.
I’m pretty sure that would be standard for something like this. You have to consider terrorism right off the bat.
My guess is that if the shooters are civilian, the military will need civilian crime investigation support.
Why?
Because Ft Hood just happens to be federal property and the last time I checked the F in FBI stood for Federal and the FBI investigates all crimes on Federal property. But then I have only worked for the Army for 40 years so I might be mistaken, but I sort of doubt it.
