The rest of the title: - U.S. Rep. Nathan Deal and "several colleagues" to ask Obama to release birth certificate

U.S. Rep. Nathan Deal, now a Republican candidate for governor, this morning declared himself in sympathy with those questioning whether President Barack Obama was born in the U.S.A.

The occasion was an online chat the congressman had with supporters this morning. And the question came from Tom Crawford of Capitol Impact.

Do you believe that Barack Obama is a native-born American citizen who is eligible to serve as president? I am asking because your comments on this issue have been a little ambiguous. I would appreciate your clearing this up.

At 9:17 a.m., Deal tapped out this:

I am joining several of my colleagues in the House in writing a letter to the President asking that he release a copy of his birth certificate so we can have an answer to this question.

That all sounds fairly innocuous.

It’ll make it to the circular file.

This is such a stupid argument. If you don’t believe me ask Bill O’Reily who went to Harvard. And he said himself the other day that you have to be really smart to go to Harvard.

Wouldn’t a Christian be obligated to at the very least show his BC to help put his fellow man at ease?

better late than never I suppose but many of them should demanded this - not asked - right after he was elected and before the inauguration

We need more of these kind. People realize something stinks here. No matter how you slice it Barry is showing he is a failure and no amount of lies can spin it.

Why haven’t a few conservative states passed laws that a candidate for president must prove eligibility with specific documents comparable to a long form birth certificate before their names appear on the ballot? I would love to see Obama off the ballots for Idaho, Wyoming, Utah, and a few other states. Even if the thug has no chance of winning those states, it would make independents think twice before casting a casual vote for the socialist.

God bless Nathan and his colleagues for their efforts. Obama has $1.7 million legal fees vested in keeping his birth certificate sealed and unattainable. Big politics and big justice will see to it his wishes are their command. Those who propelled Obama to his presidency will not tolerate such revelation or anyone who dares to order said birth certificate revealed. The legitimacy of a standing presidency should be demanded by congress and the senate.

The healthcare bill has no relevance whatsoever in comparison to the importance of this Constitutional requirement. Lawmakers "assuming" he was legally qualified for the job would be negligent and should be held as derelict of duty having failed to ensure the president was legally qualified for the office.

"Why haven’t a few conservative states passed laws that a candidate for president must prove eligibility with specific documents comparable to a long form birth certificate before their names appear on the ballot?"

Why wait till election time? This can be done NOW.

Just have two or three states pass a "Usurper Protection Act" which basically requires that anyone who is sworn in as President must have a copy of his long form birth certificate on file with that state BEFORE that state recognizes his authority as President to affect the citizens of that state. If the President is a "legal" President, there should be no problem complying with this. If there is a legal problem with the President (possible Usurper), then at least that state's residents don't have to be harmed or affected by any illegal legislation or executive orders he might issue.

The twentieth amendment, section three requires that a President elect successfully "qualify" to Congress before being allowed to assume office. If Congress fails to do it's duty , then the states, with a law such as this can protect themselves. Since this law would basically be ENFORCING a provision in the Constitution, I don't see how it could be ruled unconstitutional in a court challenge. The best part of this approach is that it can be NOW by any state that wishes to do so on behalf of protecting it's citizens against illegal, unconstitutional Federal dictates.

Pass this and have it apply to the very next issuance of executive orders or signed legislation. Put the legal onus on THEM for a change.
