The disrespect, the contempt, the arrogance, the sense of entitlement and elitism by the preponderant majority of those in the U.S. Congress and Senate has become unquestionable. The real question is: Will WE THE PEOPLE exercise our right to "vote the bums out!" Something else DOES need to be said; a message the Congress/Senate WILL hear since they couldn't hear the message of the Town halls, the two rallies in Washington, D.C., the wishes of the people to vote down the healthcare legislation is this: WE THE PEOPLE are coming after your jobs...

Just for the record, I believe that photo was taken at the Connecticut state legislature, not the U.S. Congress.
It’s an old photo as well, first saw it over a year ago.
Illinois.
Get a grip Mr. PhD. @ RFFM
I would love it if Congress played video games all day long on our dime. It would reduce the damage they can do to the country.
Some of the densest, most obtuse people I know are PhDs.
The purpose of the congress of the United States needs to be returned to that of a facilitating agency for the individual States. The only reason for interaction between the national government of the United States and the people should be for the people to elect a “people’s house”, House of Representatives, or if an individual State or States are abusing the Bill of Rights of the people.
The people should, and still do not, elect a President, and they should likewise not directly elect US senators. The 17th Amendment to the US constitution, the direct election of senators, stripped the individual States of their common ability to control and balance the national government.
It was needed because of the 16th Amendment to the US constitution, the Income Tax, was the means for the national government to involve itself directly in the lives of the people, without the States being able to intercede in their behalf, through its appointed senators.
While the individual States today are trying to restore some balance, their emphasis is on the 10th Amendment. But this is not enough to address the underlying imbalance.
For that, I am afraid, there will be no other solution than to convene a Constitutional Convention of the individual States. And while that once was seen as unthinkable, today’s circumstances are so grave that there may be no other choice.
Because of its unique legal standing among US States, the State of Texas is the logical choice to host this gathering, and their legislature should prepare and dispatch invitations to the other 49 States, to ask of their resolve to restore constitutional and economic order to the United States.
If 34 States are in agreement that a Constitutional Convention is to be called, then Texas should prepare a place to do so, and send invitations to the other 49 States to attend. While the US congress wants a say in the convention, by simple majority vote of the Convention, they should be told not only that they have no say in the convention, but that any officer, elected official, appointee, or employee of the national government that chooses to interfere with the convention may be relieved of their duties immediately, with no recourse or appeal, again by simple majority vote.
The national government of the United States is thereafter no longer empowered to make any new law until the convention has finished its work, 3/4ths of the individual States have voted to approve or disprove of its amendments, and the changes demanded and approved have been carried out.
