"Someone like Michelle Bachmann would be incredible, but our friend insists she’s not even on the long list, let alone the short list for the job. 'Remember, Republicans are all about “whose turn it is” and “who has been waiting longest for the job”. There is no sense of timeliness with them, and never any consideration for who would be best to lead the party. They just get in a line and years later it’s their turn to be the nominee or the Speaker or whatever. That’s how Republicans do things, and that’s why they are so beatable usually'.

Okay maybe she's *my rule*, but she should be on the 'Rules List'. :-)
Well, maybe we can do something about that silly rule while we're taking care of the RINO’s. There are several things that need tending to while we're about it. Might as well get a list an do it right.
Things like making Congress et al HAVE to have the same health care system they mandate for the rest of us. And it won't hurt them to have to scramble for a parking place at the airport either.
I'm all for giving them a dose of real life.
Get rid of the rule that says if you are indicted, regardless of how phony and cooked the indictment, you must step down.
And make the filing of frivolous ethics charges take a bite out of those who file them. Right now they can make dozens of charges with no fear of having to back them up.
Actually, it might be better just to do away with Congress completely and let them start over with all new members. Especially staff. Too many of the staffers end up being there way too many years.
Excellent point idea! We are quickly putting together the list.
Actually, it might be better just to do away with Congress completely ...
Stop right there and we have a deal! Talk about balancing the budget!
Agreed.
The Tea Party movement might want to consider a return to the nineteen nineties and a renewal of the Contract for America. Why not issue a ten commandments that begins with “all leadership roles and committee leaders will be determined every two years by secret vote.”
That may have saved the Governorship of Sarah Palin. Then again, the commies have an endless stream of cash with George Soros funding them.
I can’t recall how many promises were kept, but I do remember that the Contract program was surprisingly successful. One guide to its success was the hatred showered on it by Democrats.
That is always a sure sign of success! ;*)
This position is completely about inside baseball. The requirements are not “leadership,” as one normally thinks of that term.
Someone being a good leader does not automatically make them good at inside baseball.
***Things like making Congress et al HAVE to have the same health care system they mandate for the rest of us.***
YES, YES, YES, YES, YES, YES, ETC.
How DARE they put themselves over us? They are elected to SERVE us, not for us to serve them.
If the current Republican Party had their way they’d rerun McPain or Dole, “Just One More Time”..
Even for Democrats, that’s how it works (Speakership is different than the Presidency)
Pelosi...was Leader
Hastert...not the first choice, but then neither was Armey (Leader at the time)
Gingrich....was Whip, Leader Michel retired.
Foley...was Leader
Wright...was Leader
O’Neill...was Leader
Albert...was Leader
1919 Gillett (R) was not leader immediately before speaker.
