Sarah Palin says former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee made a horrible decision nine years ago in granting clemency to a man suspected of killing four police officers two weeks ago in Washington state.
It was a bad decision obviously, but my heart goes out to Huckabee, the former Alaska governor said of her potential 2012 GOP presidential rival during an interview Monday with conservative radio host Lars Larson. I love him, and I feel bad for him to be in this position. But I feel even worse for the victims families in this situation.
In 2000, Huckabee granted clemency to Maurice Clemmons, the suspected killer of the four police officers. He had served 11 years in prison after being sentenced as a teenager to 108 years on burglary, theft and other felony charges.

Sarah understands the concept of a kill shot.

drove by this today...
TACOMA — Over 20,000 officers and fire officials from across North America filled the Tacoma Dome Tuesday afternoon to remember four Lakewood police officers who were shot and killed at a coffee shop on Nov. 29.

Look for a whiney response from Huckabee over the next few days.
Did you read this and would you care to comment?
Hey Romney...
Now that's mastery of "bless his heart." She didn't even have to say it, it was implied.
Maureen Dowd, take note ... you and your feeble attempt at BHH, lol.

LOL! Huckabee is usually on the giving end of that type of backhanded complement.. Whats it like to get one in the shins for once , Huckleberry, you sanctimonious phony!
This has probably been beat around so much it should be considered old news, but I’ve listened to the reasoning the Gov used when he commuted the guys sentence, and I’d have to say, given the same info, I probably would have done so myself. Its my understanding it was a 16 yr old kid that got himself into trouble and did a robbery and a burglary WITHOUT a weapon. Anybody would look at this and say enough is enough, a 106 year sentence is a bit unreasonable. The kid spending 11 years in prison is enough.
Its so sad that the final chapter in this story lead to the deaths of 4 cops. I grieve for their families.
At the same time, while I adore Gov. Palin, I think it is in very bad form to second guess a decision by Huckabee. I would hope she would acknowledge this and apologize. Just my $.02.
Palin just lost some of my respect.
Two words would have been better: No comment
Even the follow-up was a killer. After stating that she had never pardoned or granted clemency to prisoners when she was guv, she said this:
“I don’t have a lot of mercy for the bad guys. I’m on the good guys’ side.”
Wow, but I love this gal!! So good-natured and funny... and so deadly at the same time!
Come on people. I'm not letting Huckabee off the hook for pardoning Maurice Clemmons , but thats what Governors and outgoing Presidents do. Often they are wise decisions, and sometimes they turn out bad. Real bad. That being said, there were allot of officials between Huckabee and the shooting of the officers that should of, could of stopped this guy, including the Washington Judge that let this monster out on bail even though he was up for Life in Prison
Love that illustration.
From Bread To Toast...burned toast at that.
So much for the Huckster.
