Here is video of Pat Buchanan telling Chris Matthews that it was his party that was opposed to ending slavery...(Video)

Chris Matthews asked Pat Buchanan "where are you on the slavery issue to start with, you're pretty much against that now right? You've stopped your foot dragging on that one right?" Pat Buchanan responded "on that one Chris, I'm with the radical Republicans who passed the 13th, 14th, and 15th amendment. It was your party Chris that was the opposition."

For someone who thinks he knows politics, he (Chris) doesn’t know much about political history … especially that of his own party.

Liberals justify this by claiming that ALLLLLL (and I quote ALL) the racists left the Democratic Party after LBJ signed the civil rights law into effect and FLED to the racist Republican party.

And I am not kidding. That is truly what they think. Oh, and they justify Robert Byrd in that he had a magnificent change of heart which makes him an even BETTER guy!

He should also remind him that the GOP was also founded on an antislavery platform.

Very typical of Matthews, don’t give an opposing view time to make their point. A good share of the viewers wouldn’t even understand what Buchannon was saying from that answer.

Liberals are typically ignorant of the facts...it was probably an honest surprise for Matthews to learn that it was the democrat party that tried to keep slavery in effect.

Dems were for slavery through out there history.

Now they push a different kind. One that see no color ... oror faith, or sex.

Just all slaves to a Federal Master.

Just all slaves to a Federal Master.

That does appear to be their goal. They can at best be only partially successful and in the process they will destroy America.

Too bad there isn’t anything in Chrissy’s head to keep it from going in one ear and out the other.

And to this day, Democrats continue to fiercely oppose the 14th Amendment.

Let’s see... which party is CURRENTLY the party that promises to put a roof over your head, feed you, and give you free health care and other goodies, all if you give up that pesky little thing called freedom. Oh yea, and they ask you the same way their political ancestors asked the slaves to come live on the plantations.

The Dems aren’t much different now than then, they are just more creative in being plantation owners.

Yeh they still think that we "the people" should be property of the state ...and they are passing "nanny state" laws to make it so...

What it call when a child in legal freed from an oppressive parent...emancipation...

But now we have a government that want to make themselves your parent whether you like it or not

A brilliant smackdown, IMO. The carefully chosen words of Reid the Feckless in his comments on the subject, yesterday, should have been more closely scrutinized by the leftists. He made NO reference to the pubbies, but rather left the foot draggers unnamed.
Chrissy ought to fire his fact checkers...

It’s time to take back the country.

I will say it again: Chris Matthews should have a neurological workup, he seriously needs to be checked out by a team of neurologists - and not just for the infamous leg tingles.

There is NO way that Mr. Matthews did not at one time fully know and fully remember that the Democrat Party was for slavery.

Seriously, it is simply reprehensible that nobody has taken Chris to a top notch neurologist - no one in his family, none of of his coworkers, not of the people he interviews.

Yeah, he's pathetic, but he's obviously ILL, just look at him and listen to numerous illogical statements he is constantly making.
