Dems' 2010 Strategy: GOP Will "Repeal" Obamacare
The Weekly Standard Blog ^ | December 24, 2009 | John McCormack

Posted on 12/25/2009 2:50:43 AM PST by Scanian

TPM reports:

"With Democratic senators united on the health care bill today, their campaign arm has settled on an attack plan for 2010: Republicans would "repeal" it if they win control.

The Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee, aggressively challenging incumbent GOP senators and vying for open seats, will paint the Republicans as only interested in obstructing."

So, the Democrats' attack plan is to tell voters that the GOP will repeal the budget-busting, tax-hiking, Medicare-cutting, abortion-funding, big insurance and big pharma giveaway that only has the support of 35% of voters. Brilliant!

Conservatives have been saying that if Obamacare passes Republicans should run on the platform of repealing this monstrosity. The Democrats really think it's a smart attack plan to send the same message?

Does this count as an in-kind contribution to Republican candidates?

LOLZ... Political Suicide for them. This will only work if the passage of this health-care montrosity was accepted by the vast majority of Americans, which it isn’t.

But...but...but...they'll love it by next November! /s

I hope that the Republicans, if they do get in power, have the courage to repeal the health care bill.

I went to my chiropractor last week. As of 12-14, all medicare patients are only allowed 18 visits a year (end of 2010) with no maintenance paid for. This is before the bill has been signed, or even passed by the Senate.

It all depends on how massive the ACORN voter fraud impacts the results. The Alinsky communists will do ANYTHING...ANYTHING to maintain power.

America may vote for Republicans hoping to repeal Obamacare in 2011, but nothing’s going to get repealed because of next year’s election. There’s only 15 Senate Democrats up for election next November and that includes such “senators for life” as Inouye, Schumer and Leahy. Even if the Republicans were to win every contested Dem seat, the Senate would still line up only 55-43-2 for the Republicans and the Dems would still have 40 to filibuster to preserve the status quo and 34 to sustain an inevitable veto. We’re stuck with whatever passes next month until after 2012 at the earliest.

And, meanwhile, here on FreeRepublic, you’ll have a bunch of folks saying they’ll never vote GOP again since the Republicans haven’t repealed ObamaCare. I saw it when the GOP had the majority. There was a bunch of folks here that either couldn’t understand concepts like 60 votes for cloture or just wanted to bash the GOP.

I say just beat them to the punch. Openly campaign on repealing the federal takeover of medicine.

Three things jump out at me immediately:

1. The media whores will continue to wage an all out war against the Republicans and the truth will continue to be in short supply.

2. The gutless wonders in the Republican party will likely continue their policy of ducking and hiding if the going gets tough. They likely won’t have the courage to stand up and be heard. They also need to learn how to work around the media whores better than they have been (I know, easier said than done). Stop worrying about being liked and wanting to be invited to those quaint social events.

3. The vast majority of voters, like many I know, will continue to wallow in complete ignorance until they are finally slapped upside the head with the tragic results of this repugnant bill in 3 to 4 years. By then it will likely be too late to do much. They need to wake from their political slumber now in time for the 2010 elections.

I don’t care so much that the electorate is not emailing and calling their representatives (even though that would be nice). I would just like to see them become more politically informed and aware.

“The only way the Democrats can offset the impending doom to their numbers in Congress is for the economy to turn around.”

And conservatives can fight BO by making sure that we spend only on the absolute necessities of life. Cut all frivolous expenditures to the bone. Let the welfare class pull his chestnuts out of the fire.

So I hope I’m wrong. But I’m afraid. Very afraid.

Me too!!

If we do not turn this around in 2010, its over.

The dumbles will ram thru more and more entitlements we will never be able to pay for.

And the great experiment that was this country will be done.

Well, if this passes, people will soon thereafter be getting notices from their employers about how this is going to affect their paycheck and/or their health plan. Hopefully, that will get their attention and force them to study this.

It won’t take 3-4 years for average Americans to get their slap across the head as new taxes, premium increases and Medicare cuts hit immediately. The MSM will continue to ignore the problems and keep cheer leading for Obamacare. The Democrat members of Congress who are naively expecting public adulation for this monstrosity will be very surprised at the backlash as the truth slowly gets out.

Sadly, that's what it will likely take. That being said, you just know that many of them will not do any followup of the issue.

I hope I am wrong.

Acorn can only rig elections by 1 to five %. The Democrats will lose by more than that. They MUST have illegal aliens legalized before 2010.

I hope they don't stop there. Damn near everything passed in the last year needs to be repealed.

The GOP lost its position in Congress over 2 elections. In 2006 the big issue was homosexuality. In 2008 the big issue was "Oh, boy, a black President, vote for me too".

I think those two issues can be overcome, and I wouldn't be squeamish over the idea of telling the public that ALL the known homosexuals have been purged.

People are now beyond the thrill of a "first" and Obama will simply turn into another weak President who dithered too much.

I hope you are right but the fact that we are even at this point in American history makes me doubt that the average American will even figure out they are being slapped. The press being dishonorable and despicable is with certainty one of the primary reasons we are in this predicament.

If the press could have found it in themselves to do some honest and investigative reporting then we would not even be put in the position of dealing with such a monstrosity as the Obama machine. Such wishing is what dreams are made of.

It will be interesting to see how much of a beating the Democrats will take and to what degree the press will cover for them.

The problem is those who actually are going to benefit the most from this health care monstrosity are going to be eligible to vote after amnesty is pushed through and these voters will pull the lever for the dems.

Coupled with a likely upswing of the economy and you can guarantee this will be permanent and will never be repealed, nor will it be declared unconstitutional.

The Federal Government needs to be abolished and rebuilt from scratch. There is no way the Producers in this country will be able to stop having their “wealth” stolen from them by politicians who will turn around and give that stolen wealth to those who do not deserve it and the recipients will continue to vote for the democrats.

Those who keep wishing for a peaceful reversal of our country's headlong dive into marxism are going to be very disappointed over the next several years, IMO.
