“that may be so, but think of the tax writeoff on 90 PERCENT of his income being donated, then the church providing for all of his needs.

Actually, the truth of charitable donation write offs is
sad. As your income rises, the percent you can write off
declines. If he is giving 90% of millions, he is not
only not using it for himself, but he isn’t getting a tax
benefit. I assume that means he is doing it out of commitment
to God.

As to the church providing for him...

Again, reality is different than perception. All compensation
is taxable - even when it is housing, etc.

And this is all speculation, since none of us knows the
details of his financial situation.

I am reluctant to paint someone with imaginary paint
for reasons that are speculated.

And, personally, I wish you could get charitable credit for
every penny you donated.

Happy New Year to you,
ampu

Agreed! One of the very first Biblical references I ever memorized was:

When thou prayest, thou shalt not be as the hypocrites are: for they love to pray standing in the synagogues and in the corners of the streets, that they may be seen of men. Verily I say unto you, They have their reward.

But thou, when thou prayest, enter into thy closet, and when thou hast shut thy door, pray to thy Father which is in secret; and thy Father which seeth in secret shall reward thee openly.
--Gospel of Matthew chapter 6, verses 5-6

For some reason, it really struck me and made sense. Still does.

Although this wording isn't exactly what I remember or memorized, the thought is pretty much the same.

When we lived in Newport Bech it was a twenty minutes or so drive.

We have attended churches locally but I didnt get the same insperational teaching as we get at Saddleback.

The work that Saddleback does locally and thur out the world is whywe choose to drive 250 miles to worship.

I invite anyone within driving distance to come worship with us at Saddleback, or watch a service online.

Saddleback members give so much to the local commuinity.

If someone needs a car donated cars are given at NO cost to them. Need food just ask the food panty.

Toy’s for kids for Christmas how about several 18 wheelers full.

Right, and we are supposed to give alms anonymously, not brag about it from the housetops.
