as a 25 yr + practicing and studying Theravada Buddhist and now born again Christian , I have to agree with Mr. Hume .
While Buddhism can do much for helping one gain inner composure there is little in it that causes the practitioner to ‘fear God ‘ , or even their Karma . Buddhism can allow one to develop a distorted ‘ it will all sort itself out eventually’ attitude and this is why so many Buddhists feel comfortable with shelving the adherence to the very important 5 Precepts and more-or-less doing as they please. They do not ‘fear their Karma’ as Christians ‘fear God’ It’s an invitation to continue to commit sinful behavior. Buddhist should remember that the Buudha’s parting words were to apply themselves and see if what he ( the Buddha) taught worked . Few do . The ‘promise’ of the Salvation of Jesus Christ is vastly more weighty and there really is no comparison . I agree with Mr. Hume : Tiger needs Jesus .

Just because you aren’t 100% convinced on your faith doesn’t mean someone else shouldn’t speak out for their faith.

That was the lousiest thing I’ve seen you say in quite some time.

You don’t know this about me, but I go to Church and am seriously considering being baptized. I have no problem with statements of faith. I am only responding to this particular statement which, for some reason, annoys me. Don’t I have a right without having to take full responsibility for an entire faith? To me, religion is so personal and to use it as Brit did here rubbed me the wrong way.

if it ‘rubbed you the wrong way,’ then so be it.

it did not do so for countless others.

so there is reality in a democracy.

happy new year.

Bill Clinton claims to be a Christian, so who can say if anything would have been different if he was a Christian?

You're right, your statement that, in your opinion that you think Brit's son committed suicide and See, Christianity didn't help him from killing himself had no compassion whatsoever. Technically you are correct. Your statement wasn't compassionate at all.

As far as a Christian keeping 'their' opinion out of whereever you say they should - no can do. As Peter said in the Book of Acts "In Him (Jesus) we live, breathe and have our being.

in other words, it is personal and real.

I always though Brit Hume to be the best of the best since long before he joined FOX. He's also been pulled through a ringer or two in his life. That makes him much easier to watch, IMHO.

Sure thing. I thought you were Jewish, and I get tired of the stuff from Medved, etc. about the perceived obstreperousness of rightwing Christians. Of course, it's used to ridicule conservatives. I know a few ersatz libertarians that vote Obama just because they're embarrassed to be associated with such rustics.

Christianity didn’t help Brit’s own son...

...a very mean thing to say, considering all the sadness involved with that death.

I think people should keep their religious beliefs to themselves. This has nothing to do with compassion.

Sorry you feel that way. This is what Christians believe ...

18) Then Jesus came to them and said, "All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me.

19) Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit,

20) and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.

We are called to tell others of The Gospel. It would irresposible of Brit if he was prompted to speak the Truth and he did not. If he pays the price for it, he knew the consequences, but knows his reward comes later.

There is an historical reason for the fear of right wing Christians and it has to do with the holocaust and conversion. As those old time Jews die off, the younger Jews tend to be more conservative. That’s been my experience so far.

My point is that any religion will work for Tiger Woods if he wants to change. The free will thing is always the wild card!

We were given FREE WILL by Him. It is us to choose what we want and do not want. Some in America took their free will to follow the Communist Manefesto (separation of church and state) and removed our Saviour from the class rooms, out of federal buildings, work places and anyone who mentions Him, are taken to the wood shed.
