Last week ...

http://www.fremonttribune.com/articles/2010/01/07/news/local/doc4b44af1b90306516425283.txt

Public reaction to the bill has been positive, Nelson said, contradicting Rasmussen Poll numbers.

“You have people totally stirred up with misinformation and confused,” Nelson said.

“The poll showed that 50 percent are Democrats that didn’t support the plan,” he said. “That’s hard to believe, that’s really hard to believe. It might be possible but it just doesn’t seem quite right. I don’t really give a lot of credibility to that particular poll.

“I’d have to say that nine out of ten people that come up to me thank me,” he said.

Fortunate for him that he was with his family and "other dinner companions".

We need to shame and ostracize politicians and family members who give aid to the destruction of our culture. They MUST be required to pay a price and to pay it in a public and embarrassing way.

I have told the communists in my family that they, and people like them, are my personal enemies and will be considered as such as long as they support the destruction of our culture. They love what I hate and hate what I love, why would I want to socialize with them anyway. We have NOTHING in common.

We need to stop making nice with our enemies. It gets us nothing. May this be the first of many incidents like it.

I don’t conflate tin-foil hat nuttery with ordinary citizens expressing their outrage.

Just how accesible has Mr. Nelson been to his constituents, eh? Do you really think he’s been listening to them? He is now.

Politicians who pull the sort of crap Nelson has should be shunned, publically humiliated and refused service everywhere they go.

It’s the civilized alternative to heads on pikes. For now.

Excerpt from a blog quoting a story from Politico.

Here, cut out the middleman. Original story (NOT on excerpt-only list):

http://www.politico.com/news/stories/0110/31488.html

Nebraska Sen. Ben Nelson and his wife were leaving dinner at a new pizza joint near their home in Omaha one night last week when a patron began complaining about Nelson’s decisive vote in favor of the Senate’s health care bill.

Other customers started booing. A woman yelled, “Get him the hell out of here!” And the Nelsons and their dining companions beat a hasty retreat.

“It was definitely a scene in there,” said Tom Lewis, a 41-year-old dentist and registered Republican who witnessed the incident. A second witness confirmed the incident to POLITICO.

It’s a new experience for Nelson.

He used to be a popular figure back home, a Democrat who served eight years in the governor’s office and was elected twice to the Senate by a state that’s as red as the “N” on the University of Nebraska’s football helmets.

But Nelson has seen his approval ratings tumble in the wake of his wavering over the historic health care bill, his deal-cutting with other Senate Democrats and, ultimately, his support to break a GOP filibuster and send the bill to a House-Senate conference committee.

Nelson, who has a track record of brokering bipartisan deals, said for months that he was unsure whether to back a Democrats-only bill, and he criticized language in the measure that would impose taxes and cut Medicare costs in order to pay for extending coverage to most Americans. But after weeks of negotiations, Nelson made his peace with the bill by striking deals on his state’s Medicaid costs and on abortion language — and, in the process, incited a furious backlash in Nebraska.

Anti-abortion activists who have supported him in the past have abandoned him; he’s been the target of a fierce campaign by opponents to push him to block the bill on final passage; and the GOP now sees the opportunity for a pickup in 2012.

Meantime, Nelson is still viewed warily by more-liberal Democrats who distrust his conservative leanings and remain upset with his opposition to a public option.

“He’s kind of a man without a state,” said Julie Schmit-Albin, executive director of Nebraska Right to Life, an influential anti-abortion group that had endorsed Nelson’s previous election bids but has “pretty much cut [its] ties” with the senator over the abortion deal in the health care bill. The group plans a rally Jan. 30 in front of the state Capitol in Lincoln and will weigh whether to use its influence to go after Nelson ahead of 2012, when he is up for a third term.

The state Republican Party has set up a website calling for voters to eject Nelson from office, and it has already raised “tens of thousands of dollars” for advertising, according to Mark Fahleson, chairman of the state party.

And Democrats in Washington worry that the pressure may cause Nelson to defect in the end, particularly since the senator — once again — has made clear that his final vote on the bill is not guaranteed.

Nelson, who declined requests for an interview, is responding to the blowback with a major effort to reverse public opinion, criss-crossing the state county by county and holding interviews with a slew of local newspapers and TV and radio stations. He has explained his vote and the deals he made in several newspaper op-eds, held a news conference outside his home in Omaha and made a “sizable number” of calls to individual voters who have written him to express their concerns, according to his spokesman.

This is the start of big trouble. If the leftists and the corrupt opportunists who enable them don't back off things are going to get uglier than this in a hurry. I wouldn't be surprised to see politicians start to be physically accosted. There are angry folks out there who are sick of being ignored. Politicians who work against their constituents' interests even in the face of plummeting electoral prospects (because they have pre-arranged golden parachutes) risk the next level of escalation. If the only way citizens can get politicians to listen is to make them fear for their physical safety then we have a recipe for interesting times.

Some may remember the House Post Office Scandal and the treatment that then Chairman of the House Ways & Means Committee Chairman Dan Rostenkowski got from his constituents -- chased down the street by a mob of senior citizens.

Our founders knew how to handle these self-aggrandizing traitors too. I highly recommend all here to read The First American Revolution by Ray Raphael. It recounts the Tea Party-like activities of Massachusetts patriots before Lexington & Concord. It came out a few years ago and was little noticed at the time. I've just been re-reading it and am struck by the parallels to present circumstances. Many may find it a useful manual for more hands on action than placard waving and emailing.

“I think a person deserves to eat in piece.”

I would agree.... if after a vigorous investigation and a fair trial.... this were is ‘last meal’.

Those in the Pelosi/Reid Party are traitors to this country and they deserve a traitors fate.....

Nelson is a member of Obama’s ruthless tribe, that is presently working around the clock to steal the futures of our children and our grandchildren. Their actions are placing our country’s very existence at great risk and they are doing their very best to destroy liberty.

Tell me please, will the killing of even more babies (that WILL be federally funded) that this whores vote advances, allow for them to eat in peace?

Nelson deserves no quarter.

The left will continue to harrass those they don't like regardless of whether conservatives are nice to them or not. He's my POS senator and he needs to hear and continue to hear this everywhere he goes. If the people of Nebraska don't remind him at every turn and make it sting then he can safely assume that he has a pass for this and for the next time. Playing nice only encourages the democrat party to keep kicking conservatives with assumed impunity.

That's exactly the problem. The lefties have been doing this stuff for a hundred years, and more so since the days of Saul Alinsky.

Let's throw it back in their faces, ten times harder. Dirty thieving scum politicians like this should be insulted and pelted with food whenever they show their faces in public, and video should be posted to YouTube.

Individuals hurt faster than institutions, dear old Saul told us so. For the worst of our enemies, even their families should face our strident disapproval when we know they are complicit (e.g. Theresa Kerry, or Barney Frank's semen receptacle that helped wreck Fannie Mae.)

We can only hope so, and I have to wonder why it ever stopped being that way (ugly) in the first place. An elected official who blatantly disregards and casts aside the best interests and concerns of his constituents should expect to be shamed in public...That he had enough brass to show his face in the first place should be real story here.

Hopefully this sort of thing is enough to get their attention. Tar and feathers can get really messy.
