The Cato Institute analysis of the Obama State of the Union speech:

The only part of this response I disagree with is at the very end when Malou Innocent says troops should be withdrawn from Afghanistan and that the war can not be won.

I, for one, am happy he gave this speech last night. I did not watch it, but it sounds like his audience was mostly his hard core base. This is not the speech he thought he would be giving, but after the Boston Massacre, they had to hastily scramble to throw together something. It was angry and spiteful, and will not help him. He is so narcissistic that he will never learn the more face time does not help him. His boat is sinking, let them keep drilling holes in the boat.

"Smoke & Mirrors"? I took it more like "Damn overt lies".

He was so over the top with his distortion of the truth it struck me as slightly Stalinesque. What's next, airbrushing folks out of official photos and show trials?

On a more personal note, the big news is that last night my wife finally "got it", and is now on board with all my preparations for the Social Unrest and Coming Hard Times that are barreling towards us like a freight train. Normally it is me yelling at the TV, but when I saw her having a dialog with Mr. Obama ("That's just a flat out lie!") I wanted to marry her all over again. On a sadder note, we are trying to get pregnant right now and she said "I don't think I want to bring a child into this world right now, knowing all that is coming".

I plan on not wasting this crisis: I'm trying to get her to allow me to buy another gun, with all the attendant paraphernalia that goes with it. you know, cases of ammo, laser thingy, holster, etc.
