Sacramento, CA— The California Senate approved creating a government-run health care system for the nation’s most populous state today, ignoring a veto threat from Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger.

Supporters said it’s time for state legislatures to take up the debate as the Obama Administration’s national health care proposal falters in Congress.

Sen. Sam Aanestad, R-Grass Valley, called the plan “disastrous.” "The government-run, socialized health care plan” would cost taxpayers more than $220 billion in new taxes, he said.

Aanestad, a licensed oral surgeon who owned and operated his own practice, said today in a statement that the single-payer system has failed in every country in which it has been attempted.

Missouri is looking for a few good California industries and we have good incentives, including low taxes.
Come on! We have plenty of locations available, and plenty of good workers.

I guess we now know what California plans to spend its large budget surplus on.

Um, isn’t California broke enough already? Where is this line of credit going to come from? Our daughter finishes up architectural engineering in June and will be job hunting. Even Seattle is starting to look better.

Arnold promised a veto. This is just politicking. They do NOTHING to solve the real problems of the state.

They are counting on Arnold to veto the bill. If he signs it, they won’t know what to do. Their checks would bounce and they can’t have that.

CA bonds are junk. They don’t have the ability to finance this. They are hoping that voters in this state are so ignorant that they believe that all-powerful government could pay for this and that it’s the mean Republicans that don’t want people to have health care. That ploy has worked up until now.

I think Ahnold will veto this socialist piece of crap legislation, as even he knows that California is bankrupt already. DemoRATs (statewide and nationwide) are doing everything they can to bankrupt & destroy our country. More & more, I want to separate the country in two... give 1/2 to the RAT bastard socialists & demoRATs & homos/lesbians & illegal aliens, and the other 1/2 to conservatives. And NEVER allow any immigration from the liberal side to the conservative side. The liberal zombies would be crying in their crack & cocaine snorts, as their cesspool country would self destruct in a matter of a few weeks.

Why not? Then the fed gov’t using our money can bail them out of a mess in which we had no say!

Are these people taking mind-altering drugs?
I thought their biggest problem facing Krazifornia was bankruptcy.
This is criminal malpractice!

Didn’t the socialist CA legislature tried this several times before and Schwarzenegger vetoed it?

Let’s hope he’ll do it again, but if Jerry Brown gets elected governor, I bet he’ll sign it.

I loved the ‘increased efficiencies from a government-run system’ comment. California is good at efficiently spending money and running things...we are the bend over and may I have another state.
