I Just Discovered The Solid Principles Conservative Web Site (Vanity)

I just wanted to post a vanity regarding a Conservative web site I found a bit ago. Normally I wouldn't post such a thing, but I ran across it due to one of the best politics podcasts available from the Apple iTunes Store that I have been a fan of for well over a year. The podcast is called "My History Can Beat Up Your Politics", and when I downloaded the latest show, it the byline said that Mr. Carlson, the man behind MHCBUYP was interviewed on Solid Principles.com. I had never heard of the site until now, so thought I might just mention both here in case there are others interested. I have yet to see all of the aforementioned web site, but Mr. Carlson's podcast is certainly worth listening to. I have always figured him as an "independent" or Libertarian from my experiences listening to his podcasts, so I found it interesting to hear that he was interviewed on this web site/podcast, and thought I might check it out and share it with the rest of us FReepers. I have no affiliation whatsoever with either of these gentlemen, but since I've enjoyed Mr. Carlson's podcasts for so long, I wanted to pass this along in the spirit of sharing.

Until I lost my MP3 player many months ago, I was a regular listener to MHCBUYP. The host is NOT conservative, maybe a bit Libertarian, but he has liberal tendencies. Truth is, he is the ultimate moderate, and tries to let History tell him whats right. He enrages both left and right on a regular basis. I listen to him and respect his views, even when I disagree with him.

Yeah, that’s a pretty good take on Mr. Carlson’s podcast. I simply like it because he tells history as is it rarely, if never, opines about anything. He’s definitely left of center, but he certainly knows his stuff and respects the history of America.

He onced had a pod cast where he compared the cost of the Iraq war, in terms of GDP, with other wars, in terms of dollars as well as casualties. It was way down at the bottom, if not nearly dead last. I used this bit of information in a debate with a liberal, and this liberal nearly lost his mind.

On the other hand, he supported deficit "stimulus" spending. Showed that FDR's spending was working, economy was improving, then FDR got cold feet, pulled back on the spending, and the economy tanked..

Very good information though, no matter what side of the isle you are on.

Yes, I remember the liberal bent shows before the election. He kept going on about how it “was time for an Obama given the current political situation, etc.”. I remember the stimulus show and the FDR show, and knew where his sympathies lay, but I didn’t let that bother me too much, as we’ve all liberals around us all the time, and Bruce Carlson’s show has the historical facts on its side to make it a good show rather than his political views. I don’t know him, but he seems to be a sensible liberal, if there is such a thing.

Right, I will always listen to an honest liberal who has his facts straight. He might lean left, but to me, that makes his conservative comments and observations even more authoritative.

You know, I miss all the podcasts I used to listen to, that alone is reason to get another MP3 player. I know I can listen to them on the computer, but I liked to listen when I was otherwise wasting time (commute to work, leisurely stroll, bike ride, etc).

Thanks for bringing this stuff back to mind!

The iPod Touch/iPhone is pretty cheap these days. I just got my iPhone and couldn’t be more happy. After going through 5 ipods over the years, its was finally nice to get the iPhone with the solid state iPod included. I put all my physics, astronomy and politics podcasts, as well as Rush, or course, to keep me going during my commutes and my strolls around town. The iTunes University podcasts are pretty decent too.

Another great conservative podcast is “The Conservative Funhouse”. Its fun filled down to earth Texan conservative podcast that is just simply nice to listen to. I know Damon and James lurk here, so they’ll be happy to see this post.

I put all my physics

Speaking of physics, have you ever listened to "Physics for Future Presidents", by Prof Muller? I have suggested it to every Freeper. I used to listen to his lectures, even though I pretty much already knew all the stuff in them, its a good yearly review. He is another guy who you assume is Liberal, but by reading between the lines, you catch on that his is (much) more conservative that those around him.

I remember listening to him sort of defend GWB's pronunciation of "Nu-QUE-lar". Said that his old buddy Edward Teller used to say it that way too. Also he is very pro Nuclear power, and although also believes in Global Warming, you can tell he believes the scientists exaggerate it.

Ah podcasts...
