Posted on 02/04/2010 2:27:14 AM PST by Cindy
SNIPPET: "Midway through the trial, two jurors were excused after they told the judge that a man in the visitor's gallery made a hand motion as if he were firing a gun at them and mouthed an obscenity. One of the jurors told the judge he was "really freaked out" by the incident and another said he could not remain impartial "anything anyone makes what I view as a death threat."
The guilty verdict on all counts means that at sentencing the judge could order Siddiqui spend the rest of her life in a federal prison."

‘Lady Al Qaeda’ ... Accused terrorist Aafia Siddiqui says toss Jews from jury pool

SNIPPET: “”If they have a Zionist or Israeli background...they are all mad at me,” said Aafia Siddiqui, a U.S.-trained neuroscientist charged with attempted murder.
“I have a feeling everyone here is them - subject to genetic testing....They should be excluded if you want to be fair,” she told Manhattan Federal Judge Richard Berman.”
SNIPPET: “Berman ruled the jury can hear about the target list and other handwritten notes but tossed as evidence the chemicals and mass-produced documents from “how-to” terror manuals.
Prosecutors also are barred from bringing up Siddiqui’s alleged ties or sympathies with Al Qaeda because they would create a bias.”

Why didn’t someone just shoot the terrorist bitch right between the eyes when they had the chance in Afghanistan?!?
And this is just a small case. Imagine the super sick circus that will happen when the “big fish” terrorist come to a civil court. This is absurd and it make us all look like idiots.I CAN NOT BELIEVE no one is fighting the plan to try these cases in a civil court. Aren’t all these morons in congress lawyers. Has no one any balls to fight this farce?
“Has no one any balls to fight this farce?”
That’s the money question, and the answer is “No!”
This country is shot . We need a whole new breed of people to represent us . NON PROFSSIONAL POLITICIANS.
Jurors, judges, lawyers are going to be threatened and maybe hurt or killed. This is a mess.
“We need a whole new breed of people to represent us . NON PROFSSIONAL POLITICIANS.”
Which is what the Founders intended.
A ‘Civil’ Court? I can’t believe they are only suing these people....
During jury selection, Siddiqui refused to take part in the trial and demanded that all Jews be excluded from her jury. As she explained, "I have a feeling everyone here is them [Jews], subject to genetic testing and they should be excluded if you want to be fair." That was only the beginning of jury-related issues.
Oh my my my, this lady what does she want? She was caught red handed. She SHOULD have been killed on the spot and I'm willing to bet there were NO JEWS around unless maybe in the military...genetic testing? Amazing. She's not a racist or anythng, she's a damned racist and guilty from a jury of her peers

Cindy: You are so thorough in reporting I didn’t think it slipped by you but thought to ask anyway. Hope you got to see the travesty at UC Irvine when the moozie’s made a mockery of Oren(sp?). Sad, just sad.
Re your post no. 16:
Arrests were made.
I’m sure it’s merely a ‘coincidence,’ however, does anyone else happen to find it peculiar that so soon after this neuroscientist was convicted ... that the entire AMERITHRAX investigation was closed by the FBI??

Aafia Siddiqui Sentenced in Manhattan Federal Court to 86 Years for Attempting to Murder U.S. Nationals in Afghanistan and Six Additional Crimes
PREET BHARARA, the United States Attorney for the Southern District of New York, announced today that AAFIA SIDDIQUI was sentenced in Manhattan federal court to 86 years in prison for the attempted murder and assault of U.S. nationals and U.S. officers and employees in Afghanistan. SIDDIQUI was found guilty of all charges against her following a 14-day jury trial before U.S. District Judge RICHARD M. BERMAN in Manhattan federal court.
Manhattan U.S. Attorney PREET BHARARA stated: “As a unanimous jury found beyond a reasonable doubt, Aafia Siddiqui attempted to murder Americans serving in Afghanistan, as well as their Afghan colleagues. She now faces the stiff consequences of her violent actions. We commend the New York Joint Terrorism Task Force and other law enforcement and military personnel for their tremendous work investigating this case here and abroad.”
According to the Indictment filed in Manhattan federal court, evidence presented at trial, and statements made at the sentencing proceeding:
On July 17, 2008, SIDDIQUI was detained by Afghan authorities, who found a number of items in her possession, including handwritten notes that referred to a “mass casualty attack” and that listed various locations in the United States, including Plum Island, the Empire State Building, the Statue of Liberty, Wall Street, and the Brooklyn Bridge. Other notes in SIDDIQUI’s possession referred to the construction of “dirty bombs,” and discussed various ways to attack “enemies,” including by destroying reconnaissance drones, using underwater bombs, and deploying gliders.
The next day, on July 18, 2008, a team of U.S. servicemen and law enforcement officers, and others assisting them, attempted to interview SIDDIQUI in Ghazni, Afghanistan, where she had been detained by local police the day before. The U.S. interview team included, among others: three officers and employees of the U.S. Army; two officers and employees of the Federal Bureau of Investigation; and two U.S. Army contract interpreters.
The interview of SIDDIQUI was to take place at an Afghan police compound in Ghazni. In a second-floor meeting room at the compoundwhere SIDDIQUI was being held, unbeknownst to the U.S. interview team, unsecured, behind a curtainSIDDIQUI grabbed a U.S. Army officer’s M-4 rifle and fired it at another U.S. Army officer and other members of the U.S. interview team. During the shooting, SIDDIQUI exclaimed her intent and desire to kill Americans.
SIDDIQUI then assaulted one of the U.S. Army interpreters, as he attempted to obtain the M-4 rifle from her. SIDDIQUI subsequently assaulted one of the FBI agents and one of the U.S. Army officers, as they attempted to subdue her.
The evidence at trial showed that, while a student in Boston, Massachusetts, SIDDIQUI had undertaken training and instruction on the handling and shooting of firearms.
On August 4, 2008, SIDDIQUI, 38, was brought from Afghanistan to Manhattan federal court to face a criminal indictment obtained by the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Southern District of New York. Trial began on January 13, 2010, and concluded on February 3, 2010, with the jury reaching a guilty verdict on all counts. Specifically, the jury convicted SIDDIQUI of the following crimes: (1) one count of attempting to kill U.S. nationals outside the United States; (2) one count of attempting to kill U.S. officers and employees; (3) one count of armed assault of U.S. officers and employees; (4) one count of using and carrying a firearm during and in relation to a crime of violence; and (5) three counts of assault of U.S. officers and employees.
Mr. BHARARA praised the investigative work of the New York Joint Terrorism Task Forcewhich principally consists of agents of the FBI and detectives of the New York City Police Department. He also expressed his gratitude to the U.S. Department of Justice’s National Security Division and the U.S. Department of State for their assistance in the case.
This case is being handled by the Office’s Terrorism and International Narcotics Unit. Assistant U.S. Attorneys CHRISTOPHER L. LAVIGNE, DAVID M. RODY, and JENNA M. DABBS are in charge of the prosecution.

“’Lady Al Qaida’ Receives 86 Year Sentence”
by IPT News Sep 23, 2010 at 5:46 pm
SNIPPET: “A Pakistani scientist educated in the U.S. was sentenced to 86 years in prison Thursday for attempting to kill U.S. soldiers and federal agents in Afghanistan in 2008. Aafia Siddiqui, 38, was found guilty of all seven charges against her, including two counts of attempted murder, following a 14-day trial in Manhattan federal court in February.”
SNIPPET: “According to the indictment, Siddiqui grabbed a U.S. Army officer’s M-4 rifle and fired it at another officer and other members of a U.S. interview team at an Afghan police compound in July 2008. A Warrant Officer heard Siddiqui, also known as “Lady Al Qaida,” shout “Allah Akbar!” before firing.”
SNIPPET: :”Evidence presented at trial showed Siddiqui received training in the handling and shooting of firearms while a student in Boston.”
“Raising Money for ‘Lady Al-Qaida’”
December 19, 2011
SNIPPET: “A Northeastern University Muslim chaplain, who also is a Roxbury, Mass. imam, hailed a terrorist convicted of attempting to murder Americans in Afghanistan as “brave,” while painting the United States as an oppressive nation of infidels.
“They say that she took up a machine gun while they held her captive in the other room and was ready to attack her captives. What a brave woman she is,” Abdullah Faaruuq said at a Dec. 8 fundraiser for Aafia Siddiqui.
Siddiqui, a Pakistani scientist also known as “Lady al-Qaida,” is serving an 86-year prison sentence after being convicted of attempting to assault and murder American officers in Afghanistan. Prosecutors say she grabbed an Army officer’s M-4 rifle and fired it at another officer and other members of a U.S. interview team at an Afghan police compound in July 2008. She was originally detained by Afghan officials who found in her possession notes about a “mass casualty attack” in the United States, along with a list of New York landmarks.
The fundraiser, “In Support of our Sister, Dr. Aafia Siddiqui,” was held at the Islamic Center of Worcester. Speakers repeatedly cast her prosecution and conviction as unjust.”
SNIPPET: “In addition to lauding Siddiqui’s “bravery,” Faaruuq also condemned American soldiers, the very people who defend America, as “kafirs,” meaning infidels.
“And if my mother was in the same place,” he said, “she would have took (sic) her West Indian machete and cut her way through those kafirs.””
SNIPPET: “The presiding judge who reviewed all the evidence saw things differently. U.S. District Judge Richard M. Berman said “significant incarceration” was called for because Siddiqui’s acts were premeditated. In his sentencing, he also noted anti-American statements witnesses said were made by Siddiqui while firing on the soldiers, like “I want to kill Americans” and “Death to America.”
It’s not the first time Faaruuq has engaged in violent rhetoric while standing up for Siddiqui. Charles Jacobs, president of the Boston-based Americans for Peace and Tolerance, wrote in October that Faaruuq sees cases like Siddiqui’s as part of an effort to target Muslims in America. Muslims should “grab onto the gun and the sword, go out and do your job” in response, Faaruuq said.
Faaruuq also is advocating for Tarek Mehanna, on trial in Boston for conspiring to support terrorists and to kill Americans in a foreign country.
Also coming to Siddiqui’s defense at the fundraiser was Imam Siraj Wahhaj of the Masjid Al-Taqwa mosque in Brooklyn, New York. Wahhaj has a history of defending convicted terrorists, listed as an unindicted co-conspirator and having served as a character witness for Omar Abdel-Rahman, the so-called “blind sheik,” convicted of conspiring to bomb the World Trade Center in 1993.”
Wahhaj was a member of Calypso Louie’s Nation of Islam.
Thanks for updating the thread, Piasa.
I wonder what university he’ll be at next?
No telling. Columbia, maybe.

CAIR-New York, for example, has tweeted that activists should come out to protest Siddiqui’s “unjust” 86-year sentence. Activists with the Muslim Alliance of North America, the Islamic Circle of North America and the American Muslim Alliance participated in a 2010 mobilization on Lady al-Qaida’s behalf prior to sentencing.”

Taliban to execute US soldier if Aafia not released

PESHAWAR: The Afghan Taliban on Thursday demanded the release of Dr Aafia Siddiqui, a Pakistani scientist who has been convicted by the US court on charges of her alleged attempt to murder US soldiers in Afghanistan, and threatened to execute an American soldier they were holding currently. They claimed Aafia Siddiquis family had approached the Taliban network through a Jirga of notables, seeking their assistance to put pressure on the US to provide her justice.
Being Muslims, it becomes our religious and moral obligation to help the distressed Pakistani woman convicted by the US court on false charges, said a senior Afghan Taliban commander. The commander, whose militant network is holding the US soldier, Bowe Bergdahl, called our sources from an undisclosed location in Afghanistan and threatened to execute the American trooper if their demand was not met.
