Still Wasting Away In Obamaville
The Freedom Fighter's Journal ^ | February 15, 2010 | Alan Caruba

The most enduring images of the Great Depression from 1929 through to the beginning of World War II for America in 1941 were those of homeless people, hobo camps, and of soup kitchens to feed the hungry.

During the Reagan years, the media was filled with stories of the homeless as if to refute any improvement in the economy under a conservative president. These days, however, as America's national debt and deficit continues to spiral out of control, the poor and the hungry remain largely unseen and, most significantly, largely unreported.

About the only thing one can find on the White House website with regard to homelessness are statements about the way "green jobs" will solve the problem. The first stimulus package, however, increased the amount of money that the nation's food banks received in 2009 so someone involved understood America has a problem.

I remember the “news” reporting when Reagan was president. Almost nightly, there were stories about the poor homeless and how Reagan was at fault. There was even one story about Reagan sneaking out of the White House, stealing a can of beans from a homeless person and consuming the beans. The media then was almost as unhinged as they are now. Now that their guy that they got elected in occupying the White House, there is next to no reporting on real victims of the dim party’s houses for votes program or the millions of Americans put out of work.

OBAMAVILLE

Gett’n a head fake,
watchin’ msn’s take;
All of their pundits oozing foul oil.
Clean’n my six gun on my front porch swing.
Felling my blood—
It’s beginnin’ to boil.

Wasted away again in Obamaville,
Searchin’ for a job so I can earn my salt.
Some people claim that Bush is to blame,
But I know it’s Obama’s fault.

There’s no rhyme or reason,
They are all commitin’ treason
With nothing to show but a brand new tax or two.
But they are real beauties,
Despotic duties, how they got passed
I haven’t a clue.

Wasted away again in Obamaville,
Searchin’ for a job so I can earn my salt.
Some people claim that it’s Bush we should blame,
Now I think,— hell with them it’s Obama’s fault.

I blew out my flip flop,
Stepped on a pop top;
Cut my heel, but I just cruise on back home.
Because no medical care will the doctors render
They say there’s little service I can tender
And there’s no need for me to hang on.

Wasted away again in Obamaville
Searchin’ for a job so I can earn my salt.
Some people claim that Bush is to blame,
But I know, it’s my own damn fault.
Yes, and some people claim that Bush is to blame,
And I know because of my vote it’s my own damn fault.

These people just want everyone dependent on them.

They probably realize the great compassion, charity and largesse of the American middle class, and don't want folks who are happy with "enough" + enough to give to the needy.

Oh, and forget about charity which requires some accountability to say, an individual, church, or community.

Remember the "charity" of the Gore's and the Obama's - it shows the hardness of their hearts.

I come in through Penn Station every morning. The homeless have made themselves right at home. I have never seen it like this in the 20 years that I’ve been doing this commute. I don’t know why they aren’t asked to go to shelters. Penn Station smells awful these days. There are at least 30 homeless men AND women living inside the main terminal on the main floor with their shopping carts and bags. They walk around harassing commuters. I probably should have compassion, but I don’t. Not while I’m schlepping in every day, my eldest son is working two jobs to support his family, my middle son is on the verge of losing his job and my youngest who graduated college last May is working totally outside his field of study for pretty low wages. Things are tough all over and we all have to do whatever it takes to survive. They should pick themselves up, dust themselves off and get with the program because the hope is gone and the change is BAD for America.

Yes, I remember those news reports back in the 1980s and the one about Reagan stealing a can of beans from a homeless guy - what nonsense! Now that there is a massive homeless problem on Obama’s watch, it’s being ignored. I spent six months in California last year and I was shocked by the army of homeless living anywhere they could pitch a tent.

Maybe the shelters are all filled up? I know this is the case in San Diego. I noticed at night an army of homeless were pitching tents..TENTS!...on the streets around the public library. And the SMELL! California is real small on public restrooms, so the homeless “go” in the streets. (Be careful where you step!)

I asked a cop about this and he said the reason was that the city shelters were jammed, and women with children were given priority which meant the single men and women camped out on the street. San Diego is popular for the homeless, since you won’t freeze to death at night.

I understand from talking to long time San Diego residents that the homeless problem hardly existed a few years ago.

I can tell you that, here in FL, there has been a proliferation of intersection-panhandlers in the last year. I noticed that recently they have apparently been issuesd reflective vests for their safety. I don’t know who gave these out but I suspect it was the county. Presumably to protect the local government from liabilty if they are injured “on the job”.

It's a real crisis for sure. Not a word about the problem from the MSM. If a Republican were in charge it would be splashed across the front pages of the NY Times. It was NEVER like this under President Bush and Mayor Giuliani. The city is broke. No more trickle down economics from Wall Street.

I think it was back either when Regan or BushOne was in office that a Boston news station kept advertising their big special live news investigations into the causes of homelessness in Boston. And yes you could tell their agenda was to blame the president. Doing live brief interviews during the news was their downfall, because rather then blame the government or the economy, the homeless were actually stating that they were responsible for their situation. And no matter how the interviewer tried to steer them toward blaming the then current administration, they didn’t to the dismays of the interviewer. All ages from teens, middle age and older were interviews and all took responsibility for choosing wrong paths in their lives which was the reason they were homeless. After a couple newscasts doing this the news investigation was dropped without any more being said. I don’t believe many people took notice of this, but I did and it was priceless.

Hey that’s not homelessness, that’s habitat diversity or housing diversity. It’s perfectly normal to live in tents or on the streets in some places in this world. And you know the administration wants the US to me more like the rest of the world. phhhhpptt<my interpretation of the sound of discussed I make when thinking on such things.

don’t be silly. homeless people do not exist unless there are republicans in charge of the federal government. it is a known fact of the universe. republicans cause homelessness./s
