With the 2010 Olympics in full swing in Vancouver, BC, Canadians are winning gold medals and their national anthem, O' Canada!, is being played for all the world to hear - but how many people realize that it is a religious song which can be found in church hymnals?

I thought the anthem was named after the old Duz laundry detergent: O Can of Duz.
I always thought it was kind of hokey, but I could care less where they took the tune from.

You reminded me that each year just before Veterans’ Day I ask our pastor to have one of the four hymns sung be “This Is My Song.”
The hymn’s other name is “Finlandia” which, I believe, is the National Anthem of Finland and was written by Jean Sebilius.
The melody and lyrics are absolutely beautiful and remind me of what our Nation means to me. It might be somewhere on You Tube... give a listen to something beautiful.

I prefer God bless America, and the Battle Hymn, and I’m a Canadian. Have had the pleasure to hear both of them just once sung by the choir.
I like God Bless America and The Battle Hymn of the Republic as well.
But there is a peace that I find at least once a year with “This Is My Song” being sung at a Sunday Service around Veterans’ Day... I don’t know why.
