The Fort Sumter Healthcare Vote

The Fort Sumter Healthcare Vote

Whatever the final healthcare vote of today, it won’t be ‘final’ in any sense of the word. A metaphor that comes to mind is the firing on Fort Sumter—the event that is often identified as triggering the Civil War.

No, we’re not predicting or expecting, and certainly aren’t hoping for violence on the scale of the first Civil War. But as the American people have watched for over a year as their elected Representatives have transformed themselves into the worst form of arrogant, corrupt, defiant ‘ruling elite’, the frustration and anger of the American people have been building. They have expressed their outrage through every peaceful avenue known to them; they have utilized the tools and technologies of democracy to make their wishes known; they have voted in the elections available to them—in Virginia, New Jersey and Massachusetts—to spell out in no uncertain terms exactly where they stand on the agenda that is being pursued. Not one of the elected Representatives can claim not to know that the American people did not and do not want nationalized healthcare. Yet they are watching as the elitists lie, bribe, and hide their way into overruling the people.

The firing on Fort Sumter in 1861 made it clear that a war was on; that there was no other way to stop what had to be stopped. Similarly, the fact that the US Congress would actually proceed with a radical leftist move to nationalize healthcare in the face of overwhelming evidence of the opposition of the vast majority of the American people tells the American people—fully, finally and unequivocally—that a war is on; that this radical leftist government must be stopped. Whether or not the healthcare vote is disputed on some procedural basis for another several days or weeks really doesn’t matter. The American people now realize the stakes; they know this is not a game; they know we are not living with the politicians of some saner bygone era.

The American government is now under the control of thugs and criminals who disdain the Constitution, who believe power is law, and truth is what sophisticated PR strategies define it to be, and who believe there is no authority higher than themselves. These attitudes are morally repugnant; they are in their own way as reprehensible and indefensible as the attitudes that rationalized the institution of human slavery.

And so the healthcare vote is the 2010 equivalent of the firing on Fort Sumter. Radical leftism is proceeding with a blatant attempt to overthrow the government of the United States of America. It is going to have to be destroyed, and the American people now know it.

What will happen next is the emergence of Lincolnesque leaders and de facto generals who intuit the nature of the war and the ideals that must be fought for—and will not be afraid to say so. The American people are in no mood to hear Romney-like, genteel approaches to ‘our friends on the other side of the aisle’. We don’t want to hear high-minded discourse on sophisticated nuances of policy differences. We want to hear full-throated defense of the America of the founding, the spirit of Patrick Henry, and a resolve and determination to repeal, rescind, reverse and completely dismantle the ‘administration’ that has brought this about.

The baby boomers now find themselves with their mission to preserve America and her ideals. May they rise up as one to defeat this monstrous evil.

General Sumter (proud to claim him)

In February 1776, he was elected Lieutenant Colonel of the Second Regiment of the South Carolina Continental Line of which he was later appointed Colonel. He subsequently was appointed Brigader General of the South Carolina Militia, a post he held until the end of the War. He participated in several battles in the early months of the war, including the campaign to prevent an invasion of Georgia. Perhaps his greatest military achievement was his involvement in driving Lord Cornwallis out of the Carolinas to Virginia where Cornwallis met his fate at Yorktown in October 1781.

He acquired the nickname, “The Carolina Gamecock” during the American Revolution for his fierce fighting tactics, regardless of his size. A British General commented that Sumter “fought like a gamecock.”

Sumter and his actions served as one of the sources for the fictional character of Benjamin Martin in The Patriot, a motion picture released in 2000.

We own The Patriot.

Could do without some of the Hollywood storylines, but otherwise a good film.

I think we need to shelve all the fancy descriptives and call these people what the are, Communists!

No more trying to break them down or make sense of them!

They've been the Communist Party of America all along!

I'm already sick of hearing what a "masterful" job Pelosi and Obama have done with the Health Care Monstrocity.

What the State-run Media (aka the Main Stream Media) will not tell you is that if it was masterful, it was only masterful in its lies, deciet, and treachory. They used trickery, sculldruggery, bribery, threats, and lawlessness to pull this Health Care Vote out by the skin of their teeth...and the battle is still far from over.

The man who despises America

Stupak was not padding to a democrat victory. No the EO deal was the democrat leadership's last ditch gasp to gett the votes they needed...because the vote makes clear that they did not have them before. And Stupak and those listening to him fell for it and will be forever remembered for being duped, bribed, and sashayed into supporting a bill that will use tax payer money to pay for abortion...and ruin the best health care services in the world as they are found in this nation...and enslave our children and grandchildren in debt. I do not know what all they were promised, or threatened with...but you can bet that it had a lot more to it than a rediculous Executive Order which will not stand or be used to stop it anyway.

We have a band of traitors running this country. I know of no other way to state it or express it. That is the truth about Barrack Hussein Obama and those in league with him. They have proven by their words, their deeds, and their stances...for decades...what they are, and now they have punctuated it with this God-forsaken, monstrocity social health care bill, and intend to continue punctuating it with amnesty for illegal aliens, a world-wide socialist cap and trade effort...among many other things. They are marxist ideologs who hate the free market, who hate free enterprise, who disdain the constitution and its attending, foundational principles, who reject freedom and personal responsibility, and who promise the wrteched masses that they themselves have created through dependancy, anything they think they want, so they can amass power to themselves and destroy this Republic, its liberty and way of life, and make it over into a decrepid socialist/marxist state where they and their cronies amass tyranical power unto themselves.

This cannot stand...indeed, this MUST NOT STAND. We must press forward to the elections of 2010 and throw these enemies out with such resounding clarity that it cannot be denied either here or abroad what is occurring. We must do so by turning to the constitution and the principles that are its foundation and then electing only those candidates who swear their allegiance to that constitution and those principles.

Nothing else will do.

If, as a people, we do not turn away from the course these quislings and traitors have set us on, then, as history and God are our witness, we will ultimately be left only with same course our own forefathers were compelled to take...that is, the force of arms, in the hands of citizens and citizen soldiers of this country to route these traitors out.

We are at a monumental crossroads in our nations history. We are on a path to self destruction and the loss of our freedom and way of life. But we have the opportunity to turn off that path and return to the principles that have made America free and prospered her.

Rise up O America, your liberty is calling!

Get involved with the effort to find and support constitutional candidates : RESTORE THE CONSTITUTION EFFORT

Come together with, discuss, and plan activities to take back our Republic at : FREERPUBLIC.COM CONSERVATIVE ACTIVISM

Join a TEA PARTY like our founders, to turn this marxism/socialism around TEA PARTY NATION and, or TEA PARTY PATRITOTS

Stay true to your oath to protect and defend the Constitution at OATHKEEPERS - NOT ON OUR WATCH

I use to kid my Mom about her greats living to 97.
On the other side I have copies of another great request Cornwallis return him to Britain, stating he felt it was dishonorable to fight against his family. cornwallis granted his request.

“..and the battle is still far from over. “

Darn right!

Discouragement

It was advertised that the Devil was going to put his tools up for sale.

On the day of the sale the tools were placed for public inspection,

each being marked with its sale price.

They were a treacherous lot of implements....

Hatred, Envy, Jealousy, Deceit, Lying, Pride,

and so on comprised the outfit.

Laid apart from the rest was a harmless looking tool,

well worn, and priced very high.

“What is the name of this tool?”

asked one of the purchasers, pointing to it.

“That is discouragement” tersely replied the Devil.

“Why have you priced it so high?”

“Because it is more useful to me than the others.

I can pry open and get inside a man’s heart with that,

when I cannot get near him with other tools.

Once I get inside, I can make him do what I choose.

It is badly worn because I use it on almost everyone,

since few people know it belongs to me.”

Jeff, the EO was to cover Stupids ass with his voters. If you remember during the first debate on this mess, he stated he woulds vote for it even if they voted his amendment down.

I also believe that Nazi Polosi was more worried about getting getting just enough of a majority, which she had, to protect as many of her scum from the wrath of the voters in swing districts.

It was a done deal from the beginning.

You said:

“Uh-uh. Won’t happen. Be nice if it could, though. “

That pretty much sums it up to say that all is lost, wouldn’t you.

nihilism -

2. a - a doctrine or belief that conditions in the social organization are so bad as to make destruction desirable for its own sake independent of any constructive program or possibility

"The baby boomers now find themselves with their mission to preserve America and her ideals. May they rise up as one to defeat this monstrous evil. "

Well, one day we hear that the "boomers" caused all the troubles of the world, and then we see now that it is our charge to fix all the problems.

I'm very skeptical about all these "fort sumpter" articles and "revolution" related historical references. I think it's going to take some very drastic moves on the governments part to get even one American to stand up to them "revolutionary" style.

There's a lot of talk going around, but all in all I think Americans these days think they have "too much to lose" to risk any notable "revolutions" with the powers that be. It's ironic, because it should be those with the most to lose that are the most willing to fight.

Tyrants must be beaten back on a regular basis...like the kid in the school yard, one ass-whipping is usually not enough...he will just retreat, regroup, and try it again.

Well the 60's radicals are again polluting America with kooky ideas and slobbering over socialism...we had to put up with their "misbehavior" in the 60's, and now with their tyranny in the 2000's. They've been slowly, quietly, and methodically working on this day for 40 years...and we said it would never happen.

I remember back in the 50's when everyone was digging bomb shelters and practicing "duck and cover" in the schools, everyone was so afraid of the "bomb" that many gave up and said "what's the use". Their lament was, "why try, they're going to just drop the bomb and end it anyway, man."

To wit, my reply was..."What if they don't.?".

Yesterday's healtcare vote has created a similar "doomsday" scenario for America, as "destroyed" is "destroyed". It's a choice between getting fried by the bomb, or allowed to die by obama's death panels...at least the first one was quick and painless.

But, like the bomb threats of yore, maybe "obamacare" won't be allowed to happen...but it's going to take some brave souls to stop it...so far, I don't see any.

All hell should have broken loose in Washington last night when the vote was announced...but it didn't. That shows the left that the only thing we can do is watch FOX news and write cutsie little slogans on poster paper.

Over the years the left has got what they wanted via "civil disobedience", and we're losing our country by "civil milquetoastiness".

We made the threats, and then when the vote was announced, we just said "aw shucks" and went home...pathetic.

America will get only what it deserves, and it seems to be deserving of socialized medicine at this point.

Through the years Americans have looked at countries with dictators and said, "it sucks to be you"...now that WE have one, well, "it sucks to be US.".

But, obama did it...he took America without firing a single shot...not one. 60-million people unemployed, nearly bankrupt, and now socialism...doesn't take much more than that to be a complete DEFEAT of AMERICA by radicals.

Now I feel like that 60's novelty song, "They're coming to take me away, ha ha". And they probably will, because if anyone thinks the DC bunch is not going to use obamacare to control, they they are stuck on stupid...or is it "stuck on Stupak"?

I foresee more and more people losing their jobs as business evaluate what obamacare will do to them, and just shut the doors. And if you think obama is going to stop at healthcare, you're crazy. He'll be going after life insurance, car insurance, and even dental insurance next.

He has created the perfect storm...took over health and put the democrats in a situation where they have nothing to lose by voting on amnesty and cap'n'trade.

I hope all of you who voted for the kenyan are just poop in your pants happy.

I wish someone would stand up on the national stage and call us to action. That’s what it’s going to take.

Nope, the people need to figure this one out for (our)themselves. In 1775, there was no one leader to call us to action. There were Patriots in Mass. that stood up and dumped Tea in the Boston Harbor. There were local leaders that shouted things like "Give Me Liberty or Give Me Death," and "If This Be Treasn Make The Most Of It."

Some view our Founders as super heros, and maybe in their own right they are. But they were ordinary men. They were shop owners, farmers, printers, lawyers, surveyors. Yet, they had a dream and a vision. A common belief. Liberty is nothing that needs a leader to call us too. Liberty is its own rallying cry.

Many claim that a few taxes were passed and the Founders stood up, made a few speeches, ruined some tea, killed a bunch of Brits, and after a bit of intellectual debate... wah-lah America.

But, it didn't happen that way. The colonists put up with being colonists for decades. They put up with Loyalists selling them out. They endured hardship and tax. And a few events lead to the spark of violence. It happened when good men decide of their own accord decided to stand together and defend their own line in the sand. Be wary of those that wish to rally the collective; we're not France.

Even after the hostilities began, the Founders sent the Olive Branch Petition. They did not want war with England and they did not want to seperate from England. What they wanted was the diginity bestowed to citizens; not subjects. They wanted diplomacy, good will and statesmanship to prevail. But, when it became evident it would not, they made their stand. It happened at the local level first.

We are not at this point yet; although very close. Many on this forum claim to be ashamed of America. They want to fly the flag upside down in distress. Are you that defeated? How can you claim American Exceptionalism and not believe the Patriot exceptional enough to prevail? Are we leftists? Shall we throw a tantrum in the street and put duct tape over our mouths? Get ahold of yourself man you are an American, now act as one.

As God as my witness I hope this country does not find itself in the throws of Revolution or Civil War. Brother against Brother, Father againt Son, Mother against Daughter. Alas, our Savior says that this is the way of the world under him. The pro-aborts have chosen theirs, and we ours; though this is not the only issue of evil at hand.

We are still the country that took 3% of the population; a population of "farmers with pitch-forks" against the most powerful army and navy in the world and WON. This is still the country that fought the same adversary a few years later and removed them from our territory.

Less than 100 years later we engaged in a great war amongst ourselves. At the turn of the 20th century, we defended the Europe we left against tyrany and prevailed. Yes, we went to war on a RUMOR that Germany was enticing the Mexicans to attack us in exchage for lands lost in the Mexcan cession [Zimmerman note pased to us by the Brits]. 20 years later we re-affirmed our message and were at war not only in Europe, but the Pacific. Our power and influence in those theaters remains though today. And the argument can be made that the sun never sets on the Amerian Emprie.

In the 50s we halted communism on the Korean penninsula. Through it all we had those willing to hide in the shadows and undermine our Exceptionalism; hence our lack of staying power in defeating the communists in Vietnam, and the fall of China to the hands of communists. We defended the sovereign nation of Kuwait against a tyrannical invading oppressor. And later we engaged in a Global War on Terrorism. We brought this fight to the enemy at the times and places of our chosing. We removed dictators from power. We put a stop to torture and rape rooms. We brought democracy to the Iraqi people.

Ironically, the Iraqis have more fair and free elections than we do. Much in the same manner as a mother that dies in childbirth.

Yet, even in times of hardship we remain the most charitable Nation in the world. We ive with our pocketbooks, skills, and our hearts. We endure even when we are chided in our acions. Look no further than Haiti, where we were accusd of invading the country, not arriving ooner, not giving enought, controllin the airstrip even thugh we provide mot of the air lifted supplies. But, we continued in our effrts, exponentially more than anyone else. The tsunami that hit Malaysia (a muslim country), we provided staggering amounts of money compared to Malaysia's oil rich muslim compatriots.

But, through all we will prevail. This is still the same country that took an immigrant, Andrew Carnegie, and allowed him to become one of the richest men of his time. A man wealthy by even today's standards. We invented the steam engine, the Bessemer Steel Process, the cotton gin, interchangeable parts, the DVD player, the VHS recorder, the internet, the assembly line, the airplane, a vaccine for polio, and put a man on the moon. We also spoke truth to power and shed blood to end slavery. We spread our ideas to those too weak to fight for it themselves. Though we are down, we are not out.

We may struggle, we may default. But, you cannot conquer an idea. And with that, America lives on. It is not a country, it is not just a land mass on a map. It is an idea, it is a belief, a way of life. It is a spark in your soul. The spark that ignites those unalienable God given rights to Life, Liberty, and the Pursuit of Hapiness. It is what makes your chest swell and rise at the Star Bangled Banner. It is the spark and the chill in your spine at the playing of "God Bless America," and "Some Gave All."

It is the mist in your eyes during the funeral procession of a Solier, Sailor, Airman, or Marine, though you knew them not.

A leader to rally us? When and if the time comes... it will be manifested in the soul of America. We are not just a collective. Liberty and Freedom has always rested in the Grace of God and the strength and courage of those willing to guard it. An idea as endearing as America does not need a personality cult for which to rally. Even, many, of our Founders died bankrupt and penniless. They mortgaged their earthly belongings for the ideals of Liberty. there was no Sarah Palin, or Limbaugh, or Beck to rally the vast territory. No, there was community and family. It is only when we feel the true weight of our burden, will we risk our fortune, safety, and comfort to pursue means outside of the ballot. There is a calm before the storm.

Yes, we are in a dark time. And we will hang the lanterns "One if byland, two if by sea, Three if by tax," but we will prevail by ballot box, jury box, or cartridge box. And if it is by cartridge box, let us take comfort in our Creator and the knowledge that after every American engagement we have came forth a better Nation.

Are you a boomer?

Those sitting on the sidelines saying, “prove me wrong”, need to purchase some conviction and courage, or move along. We don’t need so-called nay-saying conservatives on the bleachers.

Prove you wrong?! I’m not doing for the sake of proving. I’m doing, and those like minded Americans, are moving forward because our convictions cause us to.

“I hope all of you who voted for the kenyan are just poop in your pants happy.”

Are you kidding? I’ve already endured a couple of gloat comments from my liberal associates.

“I foresee more and more people losing their jobs as business evaluate what obamacare will do to them, and just shut the doors. And if you think obama is going to stop at healthcare, you’re crazy. He’ll be going after life insurance, car insurance, and even dental insurance next.”

“But, obama did it...he took America without firing a single shot...not one. 60-million people unemployed, nearly bankrupt, and now socialism...doesn’t take much more than that to be a complete DEFEAT of AMERICA by radicals.”

I wouldn’t grant him ALL the credit. This Communist goal has been in motion for the last 30+yrs. in our public schools, media, and government.

It is those who say, “prove me wrong” who will help to kill any effort on the part of conservatives who are taking a pro-active course.

A little leavening leavens the whole lump. In this case, the leavening should be thrown out.

"I wouldn’t grant him ALL the credit. This Communist goal has been in motion for the last 30+yrs. in our public schools, media, and government.

I'm 64, and that goal has been around a lot longer than the past 30 years...I remember reading about the communist manifesto in grammar school.

However, it's been more or less like an oil slick floating ont he water...it's there but hardley anyone noticed, but then along comes obama, sets the oil slick on fire, and proceeds to enact all the things the marxists, and alinskys have proscribed.

It took the boldness of a black guy - who the left knew would be partly immune to criticism based on the bubbling caldron of race guilt harbored by the American people.

I'm not saying "prove me wrong"...just "hide and watch.".

I’m an optimist, so this may be hopeful.

If we had but world enough, and time....

Well, lemme point out one thing, anyway. I really can't take a lot of time on this right now, but: I remember the Seventies without fondness. We had a so-called "conservative" President that imposed wage and price controls, "safety" regulations, "revenue sharing" which turned the states into whores for DC money, followed by an unelected President and Vice President, the Young Turk Democratic takeover of Congress, the cutoff of South Vietnam, the rape of Cambodia, the rise of Jimmah, the loss of the Panama Canal, and the fall of Iran. I was in the Birch Society in those days, and I saw how hard it was to get people to open their eyes and see the thousand Lilliputian threads that were tying them down as the socialists marched us on to certain ruin.

Well, they were turned back. I still remember Congress extending the deadline for the ERA with 35 ratifications and three more needed (which they couldn't get!). For a while, it seemed as though the whole thing might turn around, but the media pressure continued, reframing, redefining, and shall we say, lying? all the while. Until we eventually got the DIRTXPOTUS.

Again, I remember the atmosphere at the time, the private conversations in suburbia, etc. I couldn't believe that Reaganism could have "worn off" so quickly, how people who had so much to lose could be so besotted by der Schlickmeister. Well, again, the socialists were turned back, by the 1994 Contract With America.

Slick was a tough opponent, and he knew how to play the media (who happily let themselves be played), so the promise of 1994 fell somewhat short. But then, Slick fell on his own troubles, and his own charisma failed at the crucial moment when Saint Al should have inherited the sacred mantle, and we got the trifecta of 2000.

Except that the trifecta was slightly "defecta". I had been a party activist for nearly 20 years at this point, and was sickened at the spinelessness of my own party, rolling over for Senate power-sharing when firm resolution was called for. The W Administration seemed to blow this way and that with every breeze from the NYT, and it appeared that the socialists would get their way even in defeat. Then came 9/11.

No sooner had W declared our goals and set to win them, the socialist establishment set itself to defeat him and them. Rathergate (2004) was a major failure for them, and should have told them what was coming. Thousands of conservative internet activists, tapping at keyboards in their pajamas, brought down one of the pillars of information control in this country.

The information establishment reacted with a full-court press to vilify Bush and eventually to install our current pres_ent. While they succeeded in that effort, it's a Pyrrhic victory. 0bama is not a statesman, nor a politician, nor even a half-decent manager, and his very success is going to torpedo him and everybody in his camp. Because the resistance I see rising now is several orders of magnitude greater than what I saw in the Seventies or Nineties. And, unlike his predecessors, 0bama is going to run into it head-on, and blindly.

A particular difference between now and the Seventies is that many folks are getting information now from radio and the Internet, which are verbal media, well-suited to logical argumentation. Flimsy structures and flaccid logic quickly get called out in this environment; whereas, in the Seventies, it was all TV, which works with flashing images, emotional presentation, and was dominated by Walter Cronkite (need I say more about that?)

When newspapers and radio were dethroned by TV, using its emotional imagery to overthrow logic and common sense, the country took a noticeable turn toward the left. A return to print and straight discourse will almost certainly turn us back the other way; no matter that dead trees are no longer involved (newsprint).

Does this make sense to anybody? I can give sources for further reading, especially on the print vs. image angle.

Well, you membership in the Birch Society says a lot. I do not subscribe to all of the society’s beliefs, theories, but they certainly have valid arguments.

“The information establishment reacted with a full-court press to vilify Bush and eventually to install our current pres_ent. Wholeheartedly agree.

“A particular difference between now and the Seventies is that many folks are getting information now from radio and the Internet, which are verbal media, well-suited to logical argumentation. Spot on, and no, you need not say more about Walter.

” When newspapers and radio were dethroned by TV, using its emotional imagery to overthrow logic and common sense, the country took a noticeable turn toward the left. A return to print and straight discourse will almost certainly turn us back the other way; no matter that dead trees are no longer involved (newsprint).”

This is, in part, true. But we can’t start from there. You can take away all the entertainment tech. all you want, but unless our children are classically educated, we’re sunk. There’s a reason why tyrants like Mao, Hitler, and the like focus on our youth, and that’s because they youth are our future.

Conservatives must remove their children from public schools. Return to Biblical foundations and classical education.

“Does this make sense to anybody?”

Absolutely.

My Birching days were long, long ago, in a galaxy far, far away (as it now seems); back when Robert Welch was still active. It was there that I learned that things in the media are never what they seem, and how to understand what they really are.

Attempts to link the multinational cabal of greedy power inebriates that currently rule us to historical conspiracies such as Adam Weishaupt's order of the Illuminati, well, I can do without that. It's practically irrelevant even if it can be demonstrated. What is important in the present situation is that we don't let ourselves or those in our protection be bamboozled into surrender. For that, we need clarity of thought and frank discourse, from first principles right down to daily life.

I got those things from several sources, the Birch Society being one. More important was a college degree which was heavy in historical, exegetical study of the Bible, including the original languages, which is where I learned how to read something without making it say what I might want it to mean. Training like that hardens one amazingly against the lures of deconstructionism and postmodernism, which look like sick jokes in comparison.

I am in the process of passing my gleanings on to yet another generation. It's the greatest fun in the universe, and it definitely wipes the eye of every tinpot socialist currently strutting his 15 minutes in the spotlight. Let the monkeys have their fun — it will be over very soon.
