Bill O’Reilly On Post-Health Care Talk Radio: 'Hysteria,' 'Crazed' And 'Entertaining'
Mediaite ^ | March 23, 2010 | Colby Hall

Bill O’Reilly had on his regular media analyst Bernie Goldberg last night to run down the media’s reaction (on both left and right) to the passing of the Health Care bill on Sunday, and echoed some of the same thoughts voiced by David Frum, the former speechwriter for George W. Bush, who made quite a stir yesterday in calling health care reform the GOP’s “Waterloo,” but a big win for the “conservative entertainment” business. Is this the beginning a more measured tone on right-of-center opinion media? Not likely.

First some background: amidst the gnashing of teeth and roaring of terrible roars on the right-of-center opinion media yesterday, came an interesting take from Frum, who basically placed the Health Care bill defeat for the GOP on a much grander scale. Calling it the “GOP’s Waterloo” in a blog post that was summed up thusly:

So today’s defeat for free-market economics and Republican values is a huge win for the conservative entertainment industry. Their listeners and viewers will now be even more enraged, even more frustrated, even more disappointed in everybody except the responsibility-free talkers on television and radio. For them, it’s mission accomplished. For the cause they purport to represent, it’s Waterloo all right: ours.

Last night, O’Reilly echoed that sentiment, though in much more measured way, when he said:

“I was listening and I was hearing almost hysteria. Not to say that it wasn’t entertaining…it was. I mean, they were crazed, they being the callers and the right wing hosts. It was entertaining, and I think they believe what they said. I didn’t see any guys being charlatans.”

O’Reilly is still being careful of what he says...doesn’t want to upset Obama. He might not come on his show. O’Reilly drives me nuts. He probably can identify with Obama. They are both extremely arrogant!

I used to watch O’Reilly, but I don’t anymore. He is doing a disservice to us. He called the Swift Boat Veterans gossip mongers and wouldn’t have them on, and then had Carl Cameron on after the 2008 election spreading gossip about Sarah Palin not knowing who was in NAFTA etc.

We won’t be around to see it but someday people will be leaving this country and be the “new immigrants” to a “new free” country somewhere. The “new free” country may even have a statue of Liberty. Ours should have fallen by then.

Then again, we might be around to see it.

What nation would have our refugees?

New Zealand will deny immigration if you are “obese” by BMI standards (not even “morbidly obese”).

America was founded on a philosophy. Other nations may have adopted elements of our Constitution but no other nation holds our Constitutional protections (which have been violated by this administration and this Congress which betrayed the notion of a separation of powers and an explicit manner in which legislation winds its way to the President’s desk).

What killed me was seeing Geraldine Ferraro on one of the shows. It was bad enough this bill was passing, but we had to listen to this old nag defending it all the way on FOX as it went down.

“Bill O’Reilly had on his regular media analyst Bernie Goldberg”

ahh, the King and Queen of the Mushy Middle. I would love to see Beck replace Bill but he seems too enamored with him

Greta is far better than Bill! Half the time you can’t tell if she is liberal, conservative, or moderate. She goes for the truth and I would rather listen to her than The King of the Mushy Middle. Beck at 8. Greta at 9, and let Hannity go play ball with his friend Bob Beckel- I am so sick of listening to him. If I wanted to hear liberals I would watch msm. You don’t need to fill the network with them to be fair and balanced. Truth provides all the fairness and balance we need. Lose Geraldo to. Please!

Frum is wrong on every major issue — he was for the bank bailout, for the car company bailout, for Guiliani for president, maliciously anti-Palin, pro-choice, doesn’t care about traditional marriage, and has said just about the most vicious things any conservative or pseudo conservative has ever said about Rush Limbaugh — that he is fat, drug-addicted and willing to sacrifice his principles just to keep his radio audience.

Frum is blight on the conservative movement.

FRum is one of the republican "adviors" that got us to this point by being an accomadationist w/ the libs. His idea would have been to negogiate w/ Oboy and in that way we could have gotten the cost of this disaster down from $986BUS to $920BUS.

He was also the brilliant mind behind the effort to show hard working Americans as idiots for MSM the very week of our greatest struggle. A lower frum of life I won't imagine.

And BORe of course can only sit back and enjoy the pathos of those trying to come to grips w/ the distruction of our nation.

Kudos to the wretched slime. These people will have their day of regret my FRiends, oh their day will come.

Bill O’Reilly has spent more time talking about a so called incident that didn’t happen..........and talk radio’s “hysterical” (his word) reaction to Obama care than he has about the ramifications of this disasterous bill itself.

Disgraceful.
