It is always awkward to deal with a troublesome neighbor. As for me, I avoid eye contact as I am backing out of my driveway. What do you do if there is a domestic disturbance next door? To complicate the question, what if the violence next door spills on to your property?
For the past few years the violence in Northern Mexico has surged as drug cartels battle for control of the bridges, airstrips, roads and tunnels that lead in to the lucrative United States drug market. As a result, acts of violence here have become common and police in the US are usually out-gunned.
Recently, a Texas rancher known for providing aid to illegal aliens was shot dead by the people he was trying to help. The killer or killers then slithered back to Mexico, which is kind of like a sanctuary for people who commit crimes in the US. If you can make it back to Mexico, generally you are home free. What happens in America stays in America.
Appeals from border governors, including both Republicans and Democrats, have gone unanswered by Janet Napolitano, our Secretary of Homeland Security. You would think she would be more responsive, as she was the governor of Arizona, but then you would be disappointed. Like many in Washington DC, she likely sees 12 million to 20 million cheap laborers (Republicans) and purchased voters/welfare cases (Democrats).
Perhaps I am old fashioned, but I always believed that the reason to have government is to protect a citizenry from internal threats (criminals) and external threats (armies). Now we face a challenge that mixes the two threats together and Washington comes together to focus on . . . .Obamace.
If the elite in DC had to live with the direct consequences of open borders ...

I hate saying this, but this person was part of the problem.
Why would you want to build a cess-pool in the beautiful state of Texas? Things in Texas WORK!! Why would you want to add politicians? Talk about adding t*rds to the punch bowl.
Agreed he was part of the problem.
Deputize every border rancher and turn them loose to protect their own land.
Damn straight
Better yet move the current vermin out of office.

I have to hear it....just how did you come to that conclusion??? Because he LIVED there??? What?
Move it to Northern Mexico, that would be better yet.

Yes, we’d still have the same idiots doing the same idiotic things. Being in Texas didn’t seem to fix Bush’s ideas of fixing the border problem.
And then there is McCain:
President Reagan granted amnesty to two million people and that was wrong, McCain said.

How does anyone support this man?
Someone who helps people to enter the USA illegally is at the very least guilty of aid and abetting criminal activity and at worst guilty of treason or sedition.
If this person did indeed help illegals enter the country, then his not being here is less help for them, and hence, a good thing.

_____________
Where did you get such a silly notion? That rancher never ‘helped illegals enter the country’! They were invading HIS property, he got in their way and they killed him.
Yes, he often helped them when they were in distress, called border patrol, etc. gave them water.
Are you telling me you wouldn’t give a thirsty Mexican water before you called the border patrol???? Really?
The BLAME is squarely on REPUBLICANS like John McCain and his liberal henchmen and people who confuse the facts. NOT this landowner.

What was the Texas Rancher’s name?
In addition to his name what part of the border did he live on? County, town, community if you know?
No, I would not. Giving them water or any sort of aid gives them more encouragement to continue breaking our law. I'd no more give an illegal water, food or any sort of assitance than I would give such help to someone who broke into my house.
They would somehow find a way to f*** it up even worse.

But you’ll give them a pass for MURDERING a fellow American and call it a good thing??
We are in deep doo-doo with thinking like that. No wonder the left thinks the GOP is a bunch of racists.
Well, no law would make me keep water from a thirsty dog, much less another human being. And I’m about as ticked off as anyone about this invasion.
Did I say I would?
If anything, ranchers should be allowed to kill anyone who violates their property.
I still find it very hard to have sympathy for someone who is helping illegals to break the law. To me, someone who does this is no different than those community organizers and other activists who push for more illegal immigration.

Please TRY to use some reason. The RANCHER did NOT help them break the law!
He gave them water and aid if they were hurt and turned them over to the Border Patrol!
GOOD GRIEF!
