Easter at a Russian Soccer Stadium

Fans greeted each other on Easter at a Sunday evening soccer match at Moscow Lokomotiv stadium. At the beginning of the second half of the match thousands of fans of Dynamo team started chanting “Christ is Risen!”, an Interfax correspondent reports.

Thousands of fans of Lokomotiv teeam on the opposite side of the stadium responded by chanting “Truly He is Risen!” The exchange took place several times.”

That's what I like from the Slavic languages. They keep the Easter and Christmas greetings as they should be. In their respective language, the greetings usually are not "Happy Easter" or "Merry Christmas." Rather, "Christ is risen!" which the other person replies, "He is risen, indeed!"

This means the greetings themselves are proclamations of faith, done by both parties. It would be difficult, of course, if one party is not a Christian.
