Federal judge rules Day of Prayer unconstitutional
The Silent Majority ^ | 04-16-10 | Robert Ehrenkaufer

For some unknown reason (cough..liberals) judicial activism has become the norm and not the exception. Activist judges like this Barbara Crabbs are attempting to rewrite not only the Constitution but history. The rich religious heritage of this country should be celebrated and not swept under the rug.

I am happy to see that President Obama seems to agree; although I am a bit leery of his reasons for doing so. The founders did not include anywhere in the Constitution a "separation of Church and State". What they included was the establishment clause within the 1st Amendment:

Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances. (Emphasis mine)

Crabbs needs to be thrown out on her ass. She wouldn’t know the U.S. Constitution if it jumped up and bit her on the ass. Where does she find her liberal “church and state” psychobabble in the U.S. Constitution? It’s not there.

1. Proclaiming a day of national prayer is not a LAW. Congress has not passed a law.

2. There is no required national denomination all must participate in. Therefore, there is no establishment of "religion".

3. Free speech is violated if judges can determine whom anyone can talk to. If I, or my congressperson, wants to talk to God, that's a free speech issue.

4. If they're told they can't talk to God, then that is a denial of free speech, but it is also a denial of free exercise.

5. If groups are told they can't talk to God, then there is a denial of peaceful assembling, a right that is not bounded by a requirement that it be for a particular purpose.

I never liked the day of prayer, because it just seemed for a way for the immoral yet sanctimonious men in our government to pretend that they were spiritual or righteous.

In a way, it held the sanctity of “social Catholic” politicians, who support abortion, think priests should marry, want homosexual clergy, yet call themselves “good Catholics”. Their protestant equivalent are just as smarmy. And likely the Jewish equivalent as well.

I don’t think they ever thought of the day of prayer as anything other than a cynical chance for them to once again take the podium, and pretend that they actually care one whit for prayer, or religion.

An atheistic Seinfeld day of nothing would pass muster.

BTW, Did Obama have a Festivus Day Proclamation?

Somebody needs to sue Congress and stop their daily prayers ASAP.

I am REALLY sick and tired of Congress not having to live by the judicial activism that affects the rest of us. Seriously. If college coaches can’t pray with the football team, etc. then Congress should NOT be allowed to start their day with a prayer. I don’t care if the lib-tards would enjoy this. Maybe it would get some of the conservatives off of their fat asses and doing what is right for the country instead of selling us out year after year.

What is unconstitutional occurs whenever the government actively prevents people from worshipping God in prayer anywhere in America.

The National Day of Prayer is a day set aside by Congress for citizens to pray for their country and its leaders. We as Christians are commanded to pray for our leaders so there will be peace in the land.

We need prayer now more than ever.

Well, here's one guy who needs to have his head straightened out on this issue of government calling for a day of national prayer.

WHEREAS it is the duty of all nations to acknowledge the providence of Almighty God, to obey His will, to be grateful for His benefits, and humbly to implore His protection and favour; and Whereas both Houfes of Congress have, by their joint committee, requefted me "to recommend to the people of the United States a DAY OF PUBLICK THANSGIVING and PRAYER, to be observed by acknowledging with grateful hearts the many and signal favors of Almighty God, especially by affording them an opportunity peaceably to eftablifh a form of government for their safety and happiness".

Yeah, like what does someone like George Washington know compared to some black robed political appointee?

To repeat George Washington's proclamation:

WHEREAS it is the duty of all nations to acknowledge the providence of Almighty God, to obey His will, to be grateful for His benefits, and humbly to implore His protection and favour; and Whereas both Houfes of Congress have, by their joint committee, requefted me "to recommend to the people of the United States a DAY OF PUBLICK THANSGIVING and PRAYER, to be observed by acknowledging with grateful hearts the many and signal favors of Almighty God, especially by affording them an opportunity peaceably to eftablifh a form of government for their safety and happiness".

I think G. Washington knew whether public prayer was unconstitutional or not.

Praise of dear leader perfectly “constitutional”.

They must have written a communist constitution that we don’t know about.

They can’t show a cross but they can post Guevara-esque images of dear leader on every wall of a public building.
