>Where do the foreigners get off thinking that they have the right to free speech and other rights afforded to the citizens of the United States.

Probably from the “Negative Rights” outlined in the majority of the Bill of Rights. The First Amendment doesn’t have an “except to foreigners” clause in it; it protects the right of EVERYONE to speak their mind by prohibiting Congress from passing a law that silences people-in-general or people-as-a-group (though that is effectively covered by the bills of attainder injunction... which is ignored).

Likewise, the second amendment does not mention the Citizenship is required for the right to keep and bear arms; in fact the passive-voice that it is written makes it a far stronger amendment than the First because the Right itself is what is not to be infringed... regardless of who is infringing. Likewise an interpretation of the Constitution as only guaranteeing such rights to citizens would leave defenseless the legal non-citizen residents of America.

The fourth amendment restricts the government from officially-sanctioned harassment; the fifth from officially-sanctioned theft.

>Maybe they should do a little more traveling and act up in those countries and then see how they are treated. Try graffiti in Singapore or talking disrespectfully about some regime that is in power.

True, they would quite likely receive a practical, experience-based education on the differences between the systems.

>Shakira is nice to look at but should keep her opinions to herself.

It may be tactless for her to voice her opinion in such manner/time & place; but let us not fall into restricting people’s speech.

{Slander/libel are not speech-restrictions, but punishment for misuse of that right... like murder is the misuse of the right to use force.}

The entire LA/Hollyweird "Save Mumia" crowd will latch on to the AZ immigration issue. This is tailor-made for them.

True, according to the definitions of the US government, Shakira's racial background is "White Caucasian". She is the only child of Nidya del Carmen Ripoll Torrado, who is of Spainard Catalan) and Italian descent, and William Mebarak Chadid, who is Lebanese descent. All those ethnic categories are "white Caucasian" in the US census. According to US laws, Shakira is entirely white, regardless of whether she is of Hispanic of latino origin (the US government states that Hispanics or latinos may be members of any race, and 85% of the them fall into the "white" category).

And if she's going to get into a more informal discuss on what "skin color" racial profiling would determine, well, here's Shakira's physical appearance:

So either way you look at it, her argument that she could be targeted by the U.S. government for "racial profiling" as a "non-white" make no sense. Don't know why liberal pop singers always feel the need to inject their opinions into topics they know nothing about. Shakira, you shouldn't be lecturing us about Arizona law when you admittedly don't understand the US constitution, anymore than Joe Biden should be showing you how to belly dance.
