I don’t know about that one ... :-)

Imagine the chaos that would happen in the U.S. Supreme Court if that tack were taken by Obama about now... saying that he was going to “restore balance” to the court and fire about three or four justice and appoint his own ... LOL ...

And then the next President would fire the “whole lot” of them and appoint a new set... and so on for every President...

That would kinda take away the “separation of powers” doctrine, I would say ...

US SC justices are appointed for life. Obama has no power to “fire” any of them else 4 most assuredly would have been dumped by now, including the Chief Justice.

In NJ, the justices apparently serve 7 year terms, so all Christie did was fail to reappoint a liberal judge whose term was expiring. That’s clearly his prerogative, whereas “firing” a justice who had served only 5 years of a 7 year term would not be.
