It takes time to properly identify the guilty party, given so many choices. Should we concern ourselves with conservatives who cling to God and guns, with evangelical Christians, with married white males, with prior military, with those who oppose socialism, or with Islamic fundamentalists? It takes a while to work through that list in a nuanced manner, and we should be patient as the great intellectuals of our time complete that process.

To try to stay in power, should there be a successful attack, the actions taken by the RATs will be far more draconian and far less successful than under Bush.
