Tea Party movement comes from all walks of life

This is written in response to Bud Morgan's column in the Highlands Today on May 19 about the Tea Party movement. We take great exception to many of his comments.

In response to your "Where do these people come from?" they come from all walks of life. People who have never been involved before with politics have decided enough is enough. Unlike the leftist protests and the immigrants marching in the streets carrying other than the American flag to protest in favor of illegal immigration, the tea parties are a walk in the park. People at the tea parties are respectful. Can't say the same for those other groups.

Yes, my wife and I are definitely against most of Obama's policies and agenda. Why would you want to stand up and praise a man who is leading this country into ruin? We don't call our president a Nazi but he is definitely a socialist. He made that abundantly clear when he talked to "Joe the Plumber" before the election.

And we'll just bet that when the left was calling President George W. Bush every name they could think of, you probably thought that was okay. Our current president hasn't been castigated nearly half as much in the media.

We especially take exception to this president's "noble" leadership, as you state in your letter. He is not noble and has demonstrated very little leadership. We find it very interesting that he has surrounded himself with tax cheats and unsavory characters in his administration.

Our previous health care system was not perfect, but it is at this point the best in the world. Do you not pay attention to other countries and their government health care? Why do so many people come from other countries for health care in our country? Do you suppose it's because they can't get it in their country, or else they have to wait until they're practically dead to get it?

Greece is not the only country having grievous financial problems; look at Europe. They all have government health care, high taxes and they're still going broke! The taxpayers are running out of money. What then, just keep printing more until you'll need many dollars just to buy a loaf of bread?

And now he wants comprehensive immigration reform? What's wrong with just enforcing the laws already in place? If his immigration reform is like everything else he's done, no thanks. If you enter this country illegally, you've committed a crime; period. End of story!

We've tried amnesty. It doesn't work. Let's get a Congress and president who have the guts to do the right thing and enforce our immigration laws.

What about Iran being only months away from possessing a nuclear bomb? Do we want to wait until they have nukes before deciding to do something about it? The United Nations, with its "blindness towards evil," is worthless and should be kicked out of the U.S. We pay the most and get the least from them.

Are you sure the president is not a Muslim? And are you sure he was born in the United States? We've never seen anyone spend so much money hiding their birth certificate, which is supposedly a public record.

Obama's past is at best, a vague story. This country elected a person who the vast majority of voters knew absolutely nothing about. You talk about a slick talker. For the life of me I cannot understand how this snake-oil salesman got elected. We had much more respect for this country's electorate before the election. Now we are scared of the future if the electorate can be mesmerized by someone of his ilk.

Lastly, the big point so many people don't seem to understand is that this is not a partisan group. As mentioned above, these are people from every political stripe that realize that the country is on the verge of losing what took many decades to build and is that "beacon on the hill," that Ronald Regan referred to, that is the hope of the oppressed in the world. It seems that this president is doing most everything he can to reverse this direction.

Little did most of the people who voted for him realize what change he had in his heart when he so proudly stated that voting for him would bring profound changes to America. No Bud, we don't want the tentacles of socialism destroying this country. If he would simply focus on cleaning up the monumental corruption in our government that has been prevalent for many years, he would be a national hero to most everyone. That would be leadership. But then he is a product of Chicago politics so we are not holding our breath.

Obama promised “hope and change.” Little did many people realize that meant we hope we have a little change left in our pockets after government seizes our heard earned wealth and distributes it to the illegal, lazy and stupid.

I'm holding my breath...so I don't have to breath in the Marxist stench.
