McCartney Marks (Hopefully) The End Of An Era

The Beatles were often called the voice of their generation. Someone needs to inform Sir Paul McCartney that his generation is pathetically outdated. The Obama administration is marking the sad end to the political reign of the irresponsible 1960's radicals and the worship of musicians as social commentators. This was certainly made clear than when Mr. McCartney spoke after receiving the Gershwin Prize on Wednesday.

Wo wo wo wo, my love does it good, wo wo wo wo.

Lather, rinse, repeat for 5 minutes and you have one of McCartneys greatest hits of the 70’s.

Laura Ingraham had it right. After showing a clip of him she asked “is that Eleanor Rigby?”

For all their enormous and fairly long-lived popularity, the Beatles’ name now produces blank stares from teenagers.

I was less than enchanted with the 60s the first time through. I want all that silly, decadent, rotten fluff to go away for good.

The band and songwriter many of the better British groupos have emulated over the past 40 years is the Kinks and Ray Davies.

The Jam
Madness
Blur
Oasis (some Beatles & Kinks)
Kaiser Cheifs (a bit)

The Jam and Blur almost copied The Kinks to a tee.
The never say Lennon and McCartney it almost always Ray Davies and The Kinks.

Bush was well known as an voracious reader. He and Karl Rover used to have a contest to see who could read the most books in a year. Sir Paul is an idiot.

He is looking rather feminine these days.

I think he’s passed feminine and moved on to dowdy and doddering.

Sometimes its good to know when to ‘call it a career.’ Sit back and enjoy the fruits of his, musical labors.

Even after the divorce, McCartney is a terribly rich man...who doesn’t have to suffer the consequences of his beloved Socialist Utopia of England. When his first wife, Linda needed medical care...she came to the US. Guess what Sir Paul...if Linda were alive, and had the same cancer a couple years from now...that choice of travelling to the States would pretty much be gone.

So, Mr. Koo Koo Ka Chu...hows that ‘nice guy’ Barky looking to ya now?

And as an aside...I have read this on other blogs...the Award (which is named after George M. Cohen) was noted as a Lifetime Achievement Award by Duh Won. Not the George M. Cohen Lifetime Achievement Award. Could it be...nah...hate to go ‘there’ but, is that yet another Obot diss of a Jew???

Just asking.

I was never a fan of the beatles in my youth. And I am less a fan of them now.

Interesting. We have teen exchange students fairly regularly. They and their buddies (American and exchange students) are quite big on the Beatles.

Don’t listen to these posters...they’re like 100 years old and will jump on any bandwagon against any kind of popular culture..no matter what decade it’s from.

Trying to bash the Beatles? It’s laughable.

I won’t diss the Beatles, but I have to laugh that someone like Paul McCartney, who married a one-legged, ex-prostitute, left-wing activist - without bothering to have her sign a pre-nup - would have the nerve to question anyone else’s “intelligence!”

Yeah, I guess they are. The first two albums I ever bought were Rubber Soul and Hard Day's Night. I still have them. They were the last Beatles albums I bought though. The WHO and the Stones quickly made the Beatles look like girly-boys to me.

Bush was also a tad bit more educated that "Macca" having obtained an MBA from Harvard.

Paul McCartney declined the opportunity to attend a teacher's college, leaving school in July 1960 to travel to Hamburg, Germany, with the Beatles. Any college degrees he has are honorary only including a PhD in Music from Yale.

Back in the sixties I was always amazed that anyone would take the words of musicians as deep philosophy. Apparently the main street press and the various rock magazines thought most teens took the advice of drug-addled rock and rollers for their most pressing problems. My friends and I just worried that our favorite musicians didn’t say or do anything stupid. We never thought the Beatles, Dylan, or any other rock and rollers were anything more than people who wrote and sang songs we liked.

Old joke from the 80's: Did you know Paul McCartney was in a group before "Wings"?
