D-Day - Thank You Veterans

Today, 66 years ago, our brave soldiers stormed the beaches of Normandy, France, risking life for liberty, in a day that has come to be known as D-Day. Since I am confident that our current President isn't capable of saying any words to commemorate this sacrifice unless he is reading it from a teleprompter, I feel compelled to present the recorded remarks of a real national leader, President Ronald Reagan.

This is a video of those remarks by President Ronald Reagan on the 40th Anniversary of D-Day, spoken on June 06, 1984 in Pointe Du Hoc, Normandy, France.

Thank you, veterans.

My grandfather was in D-Day.

His observations:

1) The Sea was red from the blood.
2) Body parts EVERYWHERE.
3) Crapping his pants from the shelling
4) Not eating or drinking for 18 hours.
5) Taking NO German prisoners..killed them All
6) Saving Private Ryan wasn’t even close to the real thing
7) If he survived the landing, he figured he would survive the war. He did.

Saving Private Ryan wasn’t even close to the real thing

This is one of the most overrated movies ever, and I'm glad your grandfather confirmed that.

My Dad was on Omaha Beach Day 2 I believe. He killed a German and came home in one piece.

Yes, thank you to all the vets including my Uncles and my father. My favorite Uncle, a Captain of Marines, missed D-Day because he was already discharged due to injuries received in the Philippines. God bless them all and I hope they all end up in heaven.

Neither was the Longest Day, one of my favorite movies, BTW. However it did not convey what really happened on Omaha Beach.
