If you recall the 1994 World Cup (held in the U.S.), Columbia lost a game on an own goal (a defender accidentally kicked the ball into his own net). This player was murdered shortly after returning to Columbia.
Videos are not that bad. Hardly an attack as described. Pales in comparison to riots after VICTORIES here in LA, Detroit, Chicago etc. Sorry to interrupt the Mexican bashing. I heard an interesting saw that seems appropriate here.
Soccer is a gentleman’s game played by hooligans.
Rugby is a hooligan’s game played by gentlemen.
Watching some of this World Cup does nothing to disabuse me of the notion that the saw is fundamentally correct, and from this news item, it seems the fans are often hooligans too.
how do you explain our hooligans then , every time a city wins or even looses in the NBA, NFL, take your pick of any American sport there is a riot.

I think there is a difference between Americans breaking windows/burning cars after WINNING a championship as opposed to attacking Ray Allen’s family after the Boston Celtics LOST the championship a couple weeks ago.

And manc, I’m long on record for applying Rule 308 to rioters of all sorts. The practical reality is that soccer hooliganism has been routine among fans in the Eurozone for some time in a way that U.S. fans don’t come close to imitating.

Soccer hooliganism knows no economic/geographical borders, IMHO. I'd much rather be in NYC after the Knicks win a title than in any Latin American city after a routine soccer match.

The best players in Latin America tend to come from Brazil or the southern cone. In other words, those douchebags at the New Republic who think that the Mexican diaspora will save US professional soccer need to think again.
Being half-Polish, I would say the honor actually belongs to Russia. They may not send their mojados across the border into Poland, but they have nukes, dope, and the will to march into my ancestral homeland again if they wish.
Well, I recently attended a viewing of a World Cup game at a local Beer Garden. The teams were Brazil and Chile, and the audience was about 80% Brazilian immigrants, 15% Chileans, and 5% American soccer fans such as myself. The Brazilians responded to both bad calls and their victory by singing songs and cheering. The Chileans left unmolested, despite being outnumbered. I've seen much worse behavior at Eagles games, by contrast.

Russians are bad neighbors, but we have over 20 million illegal Mexicans already in our homeland. Might be the largest invasion by a neighbor ever. Just based on numbers alone.
