NASA: Al Gore did not invent the algorithm. The Muslims did.

If you thought that Al Gore invented the algorithm you are wrong. The method was named after Al-Khwarizmi (780-850)one of the fathers of the algebra, which is named after his book, Kitab al-Jabr. Al-Khwarizmi is featured here on a USSR postal stamp.
President Obama apparently believes we dont respect enough the achievements of the Muslim world which is weird because we still call the thing algorithm, dont we? We still call our numeral system Arabic despite the fact that the Arabs do not use it anymore.
Here are more everyday tributes to the Muslim science and achievements: admiral, albatross, chemistry, alcohol (this one brings a lot of revenue for President Obama), amber, apricot, assassin, borax, carat, coffee, caliber
These are just some of the ABCs of the Arabic loanwords preserved in the modern English language.
Americans have a tough time to understand President Obamas directives to NASA to serve as an ambassador to the Muslim world.
During the Cold War the achievements in Science and Technology were the measure of the positions of the two camps according to the Soviets. The kids behind the Iron Curtain were thought that Russians invented about everything; the spies snatched from the USSR about every technology that surfaced in the West. The capitalists did propaganda and did not tell their kids that Russian created the radio. The imperialists just do not appreciate the achievements of the third world. It is very possible that President Obama was told all that while growing around Marxists.
It is a communist stereotype that President Obama shares that the capitalist USA does not show enough respect to the Muslim world achievements. Not true. Every morning when I say: coffee I totally respect them...

I use this every time I paint with watercolors...
...Of course I mostly paint Christian knights slaughtering saracens, so it probably doesn't count.

Whooop de doo doo. We all need to send some moon rocks to the Muslim world for their next barbaric stoning of some poor woman....

The method was named after Al-Khwarizmi (780-850)one of the fathers of the algebra, which is named after his book Wrong. While the name is derived from al-jabr, that's the extent of the contribution. The methods existed in Babylonia, ancient Greece, and India long before muslims "invented" it.

The development of Mohammad’s teachings destroyed the intellectual foundations of the culture it over ran. Far from a source of intellectual and scientific activity, the Muslim faith is resonsible for its demise.

Ironically, most of the common names of the visible stars are Arabic in origin ... What else do they went, rename them after Mohammed’s kin?

I want to thank 0bama for his Humiliate Islam Through NASA Initiative. Every time NASA tries to highlight a Muslim achievement there will be a dozen articles written that contradict the myth. What better way to educate the world that Islam is just a cult of thieves and murderers?

Obama cut the NASA budget and gave the money to the “Race to the top”. What top we are racing to now?

LOL, both!!! I was stationed in Pakistan for fifteen months, for uncle sugar.

Nuts, I invented the algorithm. Actually quite a few of them. one flies jets at very low alitude, taking into account climb capability, dive limits, and acceleration "desires" (While an F-16 can pull 9Gs, you don't want to be doing that repeatedly for an hour or three, negative g's tend to hit your helmet against the canopy). Another determines inter-visibility between objects, perhaps thousands of them, at distances where the curve of the earth matters, and the earth has hills, mountains and valleys. which could interrupt visibility. (First "real", meaning not for a class, recursive algorithm I developed). Dev elopement of both of those algorithms involved algebra, not to mention trigonometry.
The Arabs were into algebra, which involves algorithms, sometimes.

Muslim "civilization" make me think of the locust aliens from "Independence Day".

Gen. Gray: Are you all right?
President Thomas Whitmore: I saw... its thoughts. I saw what they're planning to do. They're like locusts. They're moving from planet to planet... their whole civilization. After they've consumed every natural resource they move on... and we're next. Nuke 'em. Let's nuke the bastards.

And ‘Arabic’ numerals were actually invented by Indian Hindus.
The Europeans were merely introduced to it from the Arabs they met.
And the article mentions coffee, which was first used by the Ethiopians... and was introduced via the Arabs to Europe.

It doesn’t matter what Muslims did hundreds of years ago. What they are doing now is supporting “radical” Islam which is trying to destroy western civilization and push the whole world back a few centuries.

Khwarazmi was Persian and some say he was actually Zoroastrian: from Wikipedia: Abū ʿAbdallāh Muḥammad ibn Mūsā al-Khwārizmī[1] (Persian/Arabic: أبو عبد الله محمد بن موسى الخوارزمي) (c. 780, Khwārizm[2][3][4] c. 850) was a Persian[5][2][6] mathematician, astronomer and geographer, a scholar in the House of Wisdom in Baghdad.

And besides that, he was Persian. Not arab. Anyway, the muslims think Adam was a muslim. So much for history.
