President Obama apparently believes we don’t respect enough the achievements of the Muslim world which is weird because we still call the thing algorithm, don’t we? We still call our numeral system Arabic despite the fact that the Arabs do not use it anymore.
Here are more everyday tributes to the Muslim science and achievements: admiral, albatross, chemistry, alcohol (this one brings a lot of revenue for President Obama), amber, apricot, assassin, borax, carat, coffee, caliber…

During the Cold War the achievements in Science and Technology were the measure of the positions of the two camps according to the Soviets. The kids behind the Iron Curtain were thought that Russians invented about everything; the spies snatched from the USSR about every technology that surfaced in the West.
