This is a ping to try to help save a couple young kittens who were either tortured or simply caught in a trap.
My aunt runs a busy farm including dogs living at her house, with many barn cats already (and prefers females) and cannot keep them. Her helper probably can't keep them either, since she also has a dog. They cannot be outside (no WAY in an animal farm near a road) because they are basically crippled and will probably "never make it" on their own outdoors. I cannot take them because of my own "special" dog who also has far too high a prey drive and would be bad news for a perfect cat, too.
So we are trying to see if anyone might be out there to take these kittens into a STRICTLY INDOOR home.
I'll post pix (bad, sorry) and descriptions for each, separately.

Male gray kitten.
Missing both rear legs (essentially, the hocks). Gets around OK but somewhat "slow" as you can imagine.
Very shy but friendly. Hides alot and needs to be coaxed with food, but can be picked up and purrs alot.
Sorry for poor pix quality - last-minute cell-phone camera shot.
If can somehow get them to Louisiana, I will care for them until they die of old age.
May God bless you for your kindness.

Male buff (somewhat tabby) kitten.
Missing right rear leg (essentially, the hock). Gets around OK but somewhat stilted.
Very friendly. Wants to be picked up and purrs alot, desperate for attention (when we're near, meows alot from his crate and "rubs" the crate where he is staying in the barn).
Sorry for poor pix quality - last-minute cell-phone camera shot.
Should've mentioned they are about 2-3 mos old, by the looks of them.
Man that is sad.
If anyone wants to talk to my aunt about the cats, please FReepMail me!

Kitty Ping!
God blesses me beyond my comprehension each and every day. Thank you for your comment :)
Good luck with their adoptions!
GERMAN SHEPHERD PING LIST
This is a low-volume list so dont worry!
(Please Freep-mail me if youd like to be on or off the list.)
Hopefully, someone in Maryland or the immediate area will find it in their hearts to care for these babies.
Cat walks with prosthetic legs
If someone wanted to throw down some money, these cats could walk normally again.
Accident with a sickle-bar cutter?... sad...
How about shipping them to JustaDumbBlonde if you can’t find anyone locally? I’ll pitch in a little for their travel ...
There are private 'rescue pilots' who volunteer their service free for animal rescue. I have a link somewhere - not sure if it's on my computer that died or on this laptop.
I bring it up because someone here may know exactly where to reach them & will save some time while I try to find the link I'm looking for.
I'll post it as soon as I can find it.
With all that they've gone through in their young lives, it shouldn't be too much more tramatic to fly. I am praying that someone local will step up.
Would like to help out if you were closer, or passing through CT (and vice versa). We love cats.
Oh, that’s great! If it is a private pilot flying general aviation, I have a suitable field 3 miles from the farm, and a couple of others that are much closer than the regional airports.
Sounds like an answer to a prayer... Let us know what you find out & when those little angels can come home to you. :)
Bless your heart for taking them to give them a loving home.
BTTT
All of my furry kids were strays or otherwise unwanted by whomever had them. My husband doesn't even bother to object any longer ... he just helps me love all of them. I had one dog that was registered and acquired on purpose, but she died at the age of 13 this past December.
Duh!
I didn’t think of that. I’ll also try PA and WV since they are all closer than most of MD (our own extra house is technically in PA while they’re in MD).
MD ping in case anyone in (Western, specifically) MD might help some cats.
If you know anyone with a PA or WV pinglist, that would be great.
Lots of really good, healthy cats are euthanized each year... Think long and hard whether you think an abused cat will make a good household companion for the next 10 to 20 years. It seems more cruel to let a loving cat or kitten be put instead of one that is damaged. Harsh, but I’ve seen some mean cats in my day that were “saved” and perhaps should not have been. Not saying the above case is such a case, but.. might be.

I don’t think so here. The buff is very sweet and wants much affection. The gray is nice too but he is shy.
We don’t honestly know what happened - cats are dumped at my aunt’s barn all the time. She assumed they were mutilated - but up there in the mountains, I thought maybe a bear trap could’ve gotten them (less likely, given most baby cats wouldn’t venture far from their “nest” with a savvy mommy).
I DID save a cat there once - weird neighbor kids abused animals all the time, and this 3-wk kitten (turns out) was stolen from the owner and abused until aunt and us “stole” her from the kid. However, from the 1st after taking her home she was “wicked”. Most evil animal I ever knew. Don’t know for sure if it was the continuous abuse at the young age or her genetics - and after a couple years of trying to be her family, we gave up.
These kittens don’t seem that way at all.
After seeing your home page, I’m coming WITH the cats!! :)
How the heck did that happen?
Come on ... I can always use a hand around here ;)
May these two handsome kittens get WONDERFUL FOREVER HOMES!:)=^..^=
Any FRpers in the area mentioned, if you can give a loving home to these two special needs kittens, do so please. THANKS!:)=^..^=
Bless you as your heart is in the right place
BUT
There is a reason that they are called K-9 Carts, as dogs take to the carts VERY well, and cats, unfortunately, not so much.
We had a paraplegic cat and had it fitted with a K9 Cart (by the owner of K9 Carts). Sadly Molly did not like the cart and just writhed on the floor until she extricated herself from the cart. She was the single, funnest animal I have ever known. We miss her.
K9 Carts are WONDERFUL, just not always for cats.
FYI, everybody.
Pace and prayers to these two cats.
I have come upon special needs cats and kittens, I have one who is blind in one eye, they love and appricate you all the more! Socialize a few as well at my local no killl shelter.
Thanks for the PING and the info! :)=^..^=
We currently have a gray diabetic cat (12 years plus).
He's a trooper, lets us take a blood sample and never fights the insulin injection.
He's a real lover boy.
I'm sure he knows he'd be dead in a field if we had not come along (we found him in a field as a kitten, took him in at the first snow).
The mice in our field have a different picture of ‘Oslo,’ though - (real name: His Royal Highness, Dr. Oslo Spincheterhousen, MD., The Crowned Prince of Overlookastan).
Special needs kitty's can be very rewarding.
My pleasure.
I found out that mine was only after I got him from the pound. His digestive tract doesn't work right, so he's had a number of costly trips to the hospital to get him sorted out. We've got it under control now, though.
He's a good little guy, and his company is worth all of the headache.
Two little darlings! Amen to their finding loving homes soon. God bless you, JustaDumbBlond.

Here's my special needs kitty...he has one leg missing. If I were closer I would take them. It's despicable that this has happened to them. Please keep us posted on their placement.
Thanks for the ping(s) SA. I don’t say that often enough but really appreciate them and you!
I am trying to reach out more specifically to regional boards and other people I know. I will wait a few days to see if someone more local pops up (that includes anyone answering this thread).
Thanks to JADB for wanting them. I don’t know that my aunt can do too much as far as special arrangements for going far away (she is a nurse to my uncle’s pediatrician practice and they are often on call), but that would be up to her or her assistant. If we can’t find something closer rather soon, maybe that can be set up.
I don’t know. They’re just assuming someone chopped them off maliciously.
In any case, someone didn’t want to deal with them as they are and abandoned them there (typical peril of having a farm).
Don't worry ... my offer will remain open as long as necessary. I'm still praying that the right home is found, even if it is not mine.
You’re very welcome.
