Natural disasters--such as a flood, hurricane, or blizzard--often come without warning. Stocking non-perishable food items ahead of time (and choosing wisely what you include) will help you weather the storm with less stress.

Fueling your body during an emergency is very different from your everyday diet. Because youll probably expend more energy than you normally would, you should eat high-energy, high-protein foods. And because you have a limited supply, the higher-quality foods you eat--and the less of them--the better. In a disaster or an emergency you want those calories, says Barry Swanson, a food scientist at Washington State University . You want some nutrients and some fibersomething to keep your diet normal.

The prudent see danger and take refuge, but the simple keep going and suffer for it. Proverbs 27:12

Why do we have to be told what to keep in case of emergency?? We’re not idiots. Now, I could see if we were four...because it would be pizza, chips and cocoa puffs.

My kids loved visiting my best friend because she had all kinds of snacks (which I couldn't afford).
They even remember what she had and they're in their 40's.

I agree with you, however many people are three meals away from the golden horde. I think the more mainstream the prep movement becomes, the more resilient our society will be.
Some of the info given is bit bogus. I hope that someone who reads this will have one of those red or blue pill moments. When they wake up they will search for other sources of info to begin preparations.

I’m going to stockpile icecream and cheescakes.
To: missnry
Unfortunately, there are a lot of people who are making those very plans. Some of them will be successful, because a lot of those who have stocked up haven't prepared, mentally and/or physically, to defend their homes. Yet others will be dead on the doorsteps of those folks who have.

Whiskey. It’s a social lubricant, water purifier, trade good, antiseptic, and in a pinch you can make a molotov cocktail. Apocalypse on the rocks!

Oh how I wish they still made cheap tinned bacon.
