GOP Chair Pat Brady urged to resign after reportedly using gay slur

WARNING: THE FOLLOWING CONTAINS PROFANE LANGUAGE THAT SOME MAY FIND OFFENSIVE. READER DISCRETION IS ADVISED.

The folks at HillBuzz.org dropped a major bombshell this morning. They’re reporting that they have what they consider to be “unimpeachable sources” who say that Illinois Republican Party Chairman Pat Brady referred to the HillBuzz.org writers as a “bunch of #### ####.” That exact slur was reportedly uttered by Pat Brady – obviously in the presence of others – just this weekend.

For the record, it’s no secret that the writers at HillBuzz are gay men. They are quite honest about that and in fact they make reference to their lifestyle quite regularly in their writing. So at least they are honest about it – unlike some others high-up in the Illinois GOP hierarchy and unlike at least a couple of candidates running statewide right now on the GOP ticket. Pat Brady clearly has no problem with those gay men. It appears that Brady’s hatred and anger only come out when it’s gay men exposing his lack of leadership.

Pat Brady is no doubt upset that HillBuzz’s dogged coverage of a Cook County Republican Party sex-related scandal (that turned into a cover-up scandal) eventually got legs. The Huffington Post for example picked up on the story and published its own recap last week. And then on Friday some Democrat women held a press conference in Chicago to try and take full political advantage. Since few normal people know who Pat Brady is, the Democrats tried to tie-in GOP gubernatorial nominee Bill Brady. That was probably an unfair stretch, but they did it anyway. NBC-5 Chicago weighed in with coverage.

Sorry ... GOP/TEAPARTY people are called “TeaBaggers” ... nothing happens. So nothing should happen here. Move on.

When liberals say to me, that I am a ‘teabagger’, I say...'if that is true, then the left, including YOU must be ‘tea-bag-ees’'

homosexuals call themselves this all the time.

In the same way some of our black brethren use the "N" word among themselves.

I don’t care about Brady’s use of that word, but I hope that he’ll resign because he endorsed candidates, before the primary. He endorsed Rep. Kirk, who disagrees with most of the party platform. When I tried to run for state rep., Brady endorsed one of my primary opponents. The state party chairman should be neutral, before the primary.

If Brady quits, who should the new chairman be? I hope that it would be State Rep. Jo Ann Osmond, of Antioch. She was the Lake Co. GOP chairman, 2004-’06, and she’s been a state rep. since 2003. She’s pro-tax cuts, pro-life, and pro-gun rights.

He spoke the truth. What’s the problem?

I was raised to call a spade a spade. Society has devolved into such a sorry PC state that you can't call a queer a fagot anymore. Sheesh.

I say we bring back use of words like “faggot” and “queer”. That is the only honest way of referring to people who engage in homosexual behavior, because it is the only way to confer properly the inherent disgust ....

At least he didn't call them a fudge packer. My young nephew introduced me to that word a year or so back. And I thought he was just pulling my leg at the time. Imagine that, calling a fagot a fudge packer.

Having lived in the San Francisco Bay Area for 40 years I have to ask: what is wrong with the word faggot?

I have to ask what is wrong with stigmatizing perverted sexual behavior that is spreading disease, depression and early death by using the word faggot? Nothing that I can see.

Obviously it’s not good for Pat Brady to be caught using that word. But for once he was right. ;p

Pat Brady should change his last name as resign in order to help Bill Brady.

What’s with same surnamed pols in this state? Too many damn Irish! ;D (my late Grandma’s maiden name: Flynn)

Of course, Pat Brady is in the family of St Rep Dan Brady (Bloomington); not the family of Bill Brady (Bloomington).

The media love to run headlines that say “Gun group opposes Brady”. Of course, they oppose the Brady bill, not Bill Brady. That is the real Brady confusion.

Fun news from Illinois today...

- IN THE SENATE RACE, The Jim & Sarah Brady Campaign to Prevent Gun Violence endorsed “Republican” Mark Kirk over Democrat Alexi Giannoulias today, with the gun control group’s president (Paul Helmke) saying Kirk had done for their cause than the Obama RAT he’s running against. They also announced their endorsement of Pat Quinn and legions of other Chicago RATs the same day.

— IN THE GOVERNOR’S RACE, Pat Quinn was forced for the SECOND time to pull an attack ad from the airwaves when its claims against State Senator Bill Brady (NO relation to Jim, Sarah, or Pat Brady... unfortunately all Illinis politicians seem to have the same last name) were proven to be false. Two television stations in the Springfield/Decatur/Champaign notified the campaign they were pulling the ads for for falsely charging that Brady missed “58 percent” of the session days in the Illinois State Senate. Quinn also forced to pull the first ad of his campaign after the after the Daily Herald reported the ad “crossed ethical lines,” and was misleading to viewers.

“Once again, Pat Quinn’s smear machine has been caught lying about Bill Brady’s record, misleading voters with yet another ad that distorts the truth, and offers no ideas for fixing the fiscal mess on the Governor’s watch,” said Brady Campaign Manager Jerry Clarke.

Supporting Mark Kirk, not an easy task to begin with, is getting harder every week.

Aptly put.

It seems like every week another reason not to vote for him comes up.
