In defense of Dr. Laura Schlessinger and all Adult thinking people in America
I received a phone call from a Black friend who knows that I write this blog. He wanted to alert me of Dr. Laura Schlessinger’s most recent travail with the archaic notion of freedom of speech in America.
According to my friend, Dr. Laura said the word Nigger. After a lingering pause, my friend obviously waiting for my response, I said half jokingly, “…and then she killed someone?” but to my friend this was no laughing matter. So I asked, did Dr. Laura call someone a Nigger or did she simply say the word? He said that he didn’t hear it himself he just heard Al Sharpen talking about it on CNN. “You can turn to it and see yourself,” he said.
I told him that a T.V. wasn’t available to me right at the moment but I would look into it and get back to him. He said, “You’re good at researching on the net I’m sure you can find it.” First, I assured him that Dr. Laura is a good person and a consummate professional. I said that I’m sure that this was a complete misunderstanding. I thanked him for the “heads-up” and then we hung up.
I did query the subject. I think I put in Dr. Laura and the word “Nigger” and sure enough, the net was on fire with flames of condemnation, which were threatening to lap up the career of Dr. Laura.

This guy didn’t do too well in schoolin’. I guess his only opportunity in life is to try to start a race war. A feller’s got to have a dream!
Re: Spade
Actually, in the 50’s and 60’s, the term “spade group” was used by black musicians to describe other groups of black musicians. I didn’t know it was demeaning.
Point taken, however. Will address my black dog as, “Snowball” from now on.
As a matter of fact, I did call him “Snowball” when I used to bring him as a therapy pet to a nursing home. One of the residents thought I called him, “NoB***s” and one of the orderlies quipped that he had a brother in law like that.
I knew that our society was heading toward the ditch, about 5 years ago, when a Kool-Aid commercial had a little black girl say to the camera: Oh, no she di-int! Ugg. I was horrified. I only saw that commercial a few times...I guess people complained and they pulled it...Still, it was a harbinger.
I think the word N*gger has a lot of hate and anger and sadness attached to it. I would not dream of calling somebody this word. That said, NOBODY is going to tell me I CAN'T SAY A WORD. I won't use it on this board as it is against the rules...but if I chose to say it in my personal life, I will.
The people that are screaming for Dr. Laura's head have completely ruined the word RACIST. It has little sting anymore. Idiots.
I imagine Dr. Laura is finished. Her show is certainly not as popular as it was 10 years ago...this will just hasten her departure. Sad that just having the nerve to say what she said (kind of a logical response IMHO)is going to force her out. I loathe the PC arseholes.

She said the forbidden N-word! She should be tossed off the air and never given a radio show again. He books should be burned in the street! Her blog site crashed! He home burned! She should lose her American citizenship and sent to Israel! How could she utter the forbidden word? Look what happened to others who used this awful, forbidden word? The media should play it over ten times each hour. She should wear sack cloth and ashes and give her fortune to the NAACP. This is the very worst thing a person could do! Murder, treason, Theft, none are as bad as uttering the N-word.
Time to stop apologizing, Cracker.
I’m here, I’m there. I’m everywhere. Here is my take.
If you stand up in righteous anger and tell the truth without deference to the critics, you deserve at least some respect for that.
But if you say the truth and then crawl on your belly when the critics don’t like what you said, you DESERVE to be stepped on. And that includes any idiot that would apologize to al sharp-en or any of his race pimping ilk for any dammmm thing.
Like Don Imus for instance. THAT was simply beyond pathetic.
And I feel exactly the same way about Dr. Laura.
Say the truth and I will defend you. APOLOGIZE for the truth and you deserve no defense because you are a coward and I ain’t getting shot for you.
