Lately I’m driven to wonder if someone is blackmailing Olson with Special Old Photographs or something.

Ah Ted, being a sheeple we thank you for your support...all we want to do to extend our tolerance and peace to those who oppose us so in expression of our gratitude please allow us to escort you into our gas chamber in the name of Islam.

And to think Barbara changed her flights to stay home an extra day to help celebrate Ted’s birthday.

Sadly pathetic turncoat.

Dear God! Do we have anything to fear from Rush’s new bride, Kathryn????? Hopefully not; he’s been with her for a number of years already... still, there was that little matter of Elton John!

I am not going to say I am in favor of the mosque being built at ground-zero - I do believe they do their cause no good by building it there.

However, I do believe in property rights and religious freedom and there is no conservative consistent view or opinion that can say they have no right to build it where they want to build if they own the property.

Barbara Olsen was to Ted Olsen as Mary Matlin is to James Carville.

Maybe he does not want to be DeLayed?

Tom DeLay: "I hope people will look at my case and decide the criminalization of politics and the politics of personal destruction is not beneficial to our country and hopefully it will stop."

It just shows that Olson is motivated by reason, logic, and the rule of law rather than blind emotion and hysteria.

To the contrary, Ted appears to be motivated by knee-jerk emotionalism, not wanting to appear "intolerant."

Reason and logic, if applied to this case, would show the idea of this mosque at GZ to be a very bad idea. And I mean a very bad idea for *Muslims*.

Given the overwhelmingly negative reaction of the community and nation at large, do you think forcing the mosque construction will advance or hinder good relations between the faiths? It hasn't even been built yet and tempers are already flaring.

There has been remarkably little backlash against Muslims in the wake of 9/11. But if I were a Muslim and wanted to keep it that way, then I would want this mosque issue to go away very quickly. Then I would declare a jihad on the idiots who conceived the idea.

Stuff like this just makes me want to throw in the towel. Sometimes I wonder why we even bother to continue to fight?

there is no conservative consistent view or opinion that can say they have no right to build it where they want to build if they own the property.

I have yet to encounter one single opponent of this mosque who says the Muslims do not have the right to build the mosque at Ground Zero or wherever they please.

The issue is not can they do it; the issue is, is it a good idea? Will it serve to "build bridges" between the faiths? The verdict is in -- look at the damage it's done already.

I would also add, their constitutional rights do not give them immunity from criticism when they choose to exercise those rights in a destructive way.

Edward T. Hall wrote several books describing cultural differences. For instance the German culture gets unglued if you go about moving furniture around. They have thick doors and want things to stay put. His description of the Arab culture went something like this:

He was sitting in a nearly deserted train station when an Arab came and stood right by him, making him quite uncomfortable and forcing him to move to a new location. He reported that their way is to just get nearer and nearer and nudge the other person out of their space...for instance in a movie theatre, standing RIGHT BEHIND your seat
until you are uncomfortable and move away and they have the seat. In this way they edge to the best seat. I think this cultural aspect is intersting in light of this mosque issue. The nearness or distance is VERY meaningful to them I think.

He also said they do not have a word that translates to “borders” and that instead they are defined by family groupings rather than by geography. They have a huge aversion to having their right of way cut off when they are moving forward which translates roughly to the way we feel about having our space bubble penetrated.

Very interesting books, but written quite a few years ago so some cultural things may have changed.

Olson is just another salon Republican scared of his shadow...of course you all hide behind protests jingoism and beg for sophisticated thought, but we know the truth.

We have seen it play out for decades in Europe.

And now they are dhimmis of the first order.
