Yost or Black for US Congress, District 3 (FL)

What can anyone from Florida tell us about the candidates running for District 3 (FL) US Congressional seat? All 3 seem to look okay online, but two are more vocal in their stand: Mike Yost and Dean Black. They both actually state their beliefs, not just a nice-sounding background. Anyone know either of the two men mentioned, or have good inside information?

Both are good men and I have met both several times since January. What I have to offer is an out of district opinion so take it as such. Most in NE Florida want the embarrasment of Corrine’s “Free the Fredonians” to be gone.

Black is by far the most flamboyant of the two at times having the aura of an evangelistic preacher than a politician. Black is managed by a long time Republican strategist, Bob Smith. He also created a catchy little campaign gimick of selling sandbags to be deliverd to the home and offices of incumbent Rep. Corrine Brown (D). The sandbag thing goes back to a scandal she created when she called the city to deliver filled sandbags to her home when a tropical storm threatened rising waters on a local river feeding the St. Johns River. She tried until she got someone to do the task at taxpayers expense.

Yost is far more businesslike in my estimation. A local businessman who got tired of the automatic corrination of Corrine! and decided the only way to fix this one gerymanderd district was to throw his hat in the ring. It appears he runs his own campaign without a dedicated outside manager. He just seems much more down to earth, guy next door type that would be more inclined to listen to all of the details than does Black.

As I am of the anti political establishment bent, I would cast my vote for Yost but both have a huge obstacle in the district makeup. Who knows, maybe the liberal baggage for Brown might change things this time as her district is also very heavily hit by the now 12.4% unemployment number for Duval County up from 11.7% last month. It is also hit with high foreclosures as well.

But since I am not in their district (4th) I can only give my opinion and wish them both well.

In the 4th, there is an independent running against the incumbent Ander Crenshaw. His name is Troy Stanley. A recently retired Navy officer whose next assignment would have been on the new LCS-1 Freedom if he had opted to stay in. In my estimation, Ander has been the typical establishment kind of congressman and I will consider Stanley.
