SocialistWorker.org behind Anti-Ground Zero Mosque counterprotest (Pretty in Pink)

"Taking on the anti-Muslim racists" Blair Ellis reports from New York City on a demonstration that stood up to the racist tide of abuse against plans for an Islamic community center.

August 23, 2010

Several hundred people challenged the right-wing's anti-Muslim hate in a counter-protest in downtown Manhattan

THE PROPOSAL for the construction of an Islamic community center in lower Manhattan near the site of the World Trade Center has become a lighting rod for the right wing's war at home on Arabs and Muslims.

But opponents of bigotry in New York City mobilized on August 22 to make sure a different message got sent: Racists aren't welcome here.

An anti-racist counterprotest, organized on just three day's notice through Facebook and an e-mail call, drew some 250 people at 10 a.m. on a rainy Sunday morning. Two blocks away, some 500 people came to a right-wing rally planned for weeks against the Islamic center, called Park 51.

I'm sure you all noticed the pretty pink URLs painted at the bottom of the pro-Ground Zero Mosque protest signs... courtesy of the, uh, labor-loving folks at Socialist Worker. Well, except for the construction workers who won't work on the site.

And don't forget what Daisy Khan said last week (I think on CNN): "This is too important a moment to back down. We have to take our opponents and transform them."

Obama could, of course, cool this off in a moment. He won’t. He wants his Summer of Rage, and if he can’t get it via the NBPP, he’ll try to get it in the most heinous way in our recent history - using 9/11.

It should be obvious now to everyone that the marxists are doing everything they can to promote jihadism.
Both want the destruction of Western Civilization.

So when Marx called religion the “opium of the people,” he wasn’t talking about Islam, I suppose…

Right. The other religions didn’t have judicial, political and ideological components to them.

And check this out:

http://socialistworker.org/where-we-stand

“Socialism, Not Capitalism:

War, poverty, exploitation, oppression and worldwide environmental destruction are products of the capitalist system, a system in which a minority ruling class profits from the labor of the majority. The alternative is socialism, a society based on workers collectively owning and controlling the wealth their labor creates.

We stand in the Marxist tradition, founded by Karl Marx and Frederick Engels, and continued by V.I. Lenin, Rosa Luxemburg and Leon Trotsky.

Workers’ Power

Workers create society’s wealth, but have no control over its production and distribution. A socialist society can only be built when workers collectively take control of that wealth and democratically plan its production and distribution according to present and future human needs instead of profit. {edit: much verbiage about this...}

Revolution

We actively support the struggle of workers and all oppressed people for economic, political and social reforms, both as a means to improve their conditions and to advance their confidence and fighting strength. But reforms within the capitalist system cannot put an end to oppression, exploitation or ecological devastation. Capitalism must be replaced.

The structures of the present government grew up under capitalism and are designed to protect capitalist rule. The working class needs an entirely different kind of state—a democratic workers’ state based on councils of workers’ delegates.

We do not support candidates of capitalist parties like the Democrats or the Republicans. We support genuine left-wing candidates and political action that promotes independence from the corporate-dominated two-party system in the U.S.

Internationalism

Capitalism is an international system, so the struggle for socialism must be international, uniting workers of all countries. The international working class is the only force capable of solving global problems like war, hunger and environmental destruction.

Socialists oppose imperialism—the division of the globe based on the subjugation of weaker nations by stronger ones—and support the self-determination of oppressed nations. {edit: so, they oppose Islamic Imperialism?} We oppose all immigration controls.

The Revolutionary Party

To achieve socialism, the most militant workers must be organized into a revolutionary socialist party. The ISO is committed to playing a role in laying the foundations for such a party. We aim to build an independent socialist organization, rooted in workplaces, schools and neighborhoods that, in fighting today’s struggles, also wins larger numbers to socialism.

***
There may be 25 people involved with this organization, or 2500 - but there are others like them, laboring (ha!) under the illusion that it could work if only THEY got it right.

So, seriously - they’re for labor, but demonize the construction workers who won’t build the Ground Zero Mosque. They hate imperialism, but are laying down a red carpet for sharia law? They’re political toddlers.

:) Actually, it’s SocialistWorker.org - I’ve asked the mods to change that.

Precaffeinated posting is always a challenge. :)

We stand in the Marxist tradition, founded by Karl Marx and Frederick Engels, and continued by V.I. Lenin, Rosa Luxemburg and Leon Trotsky.
Ah, Trotsky—inventor of the Red Terror; Western communists love invoking his name, trying to convince people that he was some sort of nicer alternative to Stalin. In fact, Trotsky was a super-evil communist mass murderer. Together with Lenin, he oversaw the Cheka (later known as the GPU, or NKWD, or KGB). To quote Wikipedia:
The Cheka is reported to have practiced torture. Victims were reportedly skinned alive, scalped, “crowned” with barbed wire, impaled, crucified, hanged, stoned to death, tied to planks and pushed slowly into furnaces or tanks of boiling water, and rolled around naked in internally nail-studded barrels. Chekists reportedly poured water on naked prisoners in the winter-bound streets until they became living ice statues. Others reportedly beheaded their victims by twisting their necks until their heads could be torn off. The Chinese Cheka detachments stationed in Kiev reportedly would attach an iron tube to the torso of a bound victim and insert a rat into the other end which was then closed off with wire netting. The tube was then held over a flame until the rat began gnawing through the victim’s guts in an effort to escape. Anton Denikin’s investigation discovered corpses whose lungs, throats, and mouths had been packed with earth.

Women and children were also victims of Cheka terror. Women would sometimes be tortured and raped before being shot. Children between the ages of 8 and 16 were imprisoned and occasionally executed.

Really nice fellow. Not that any liberal would ever care to mention this. Nooo, you have to do much worse things to to get the attention of a liberal. Like waterboarding…
The working class needs an entirely different kind of state—a democratic workers’ state based on councils of workers’ delegates.
Also known as Soviets, eh? How about using the word that everybody knows?

The commies have always been master of propaganda, and using code language to obscure their real intentions.
