Probably for the same reason they haven 't jumped all over the birth certificate issue. The MSM would in mass smear and label anyone a far right kook who pursued Obama's slip-ups that suggest he is Muslim, at least in spirit.
Actually the MSM has been trying to smear those who believe Obama is Muslim. They used the recent survey which said around 20% think he's Muslim to discredit any consideration of that possibility.
