President Obama wants to tax-hike Chris Matthews and other rich folks in America. The MSNBC host is probably not one of those liberals who support the tax-hike while hoping that the Republicans will kill it. Matthews probably just cant wait to start paying more to the IRS.
However the host of Hardball is not happy that President Obama keeps talking about these tax-hikes in a manner that suggests that he will be sending checks to Matthews, when in fact Matthews will be sending checks to Obama:
Stop saying that giving people tax cuts is giving people money. It`s their money! A tax cut is when the government doesn`t take our money. It`s an important distinction.
Yes, indeed! It`s an important distinction. Unfortunately Chris Matthews wasnt so picky in terminology when President Obama called the expanding of the Earned Income Tax Credit a tax-cut.
Many folks in the USA receive a check from the government with EIC refund when in fact they did not pay any federal income tax. Obama calls those tax-cuts for the working families, when in fact it is a kind of welfare or stimulus at best.
Matthews did not outline the important distinction in this case. He just let President Obama call the government hand-outs: tax-cuts.
So the folks who received the hundreds and the thousands of dollars of EIC tax-cuts now think that this is what the rich will be getting a check from the IRS like they did.

(brb, gotta take a truckload of rocksalt to Hell)
The IRS will accept donations from anyone willing to do so.
Whoa, what got into him?
Matthews is right on this one (it’s our money)...but he still reminds me of the creepy old uncle that still hugs everyone just a little too long at Thanksgiving.
George W. Bush campaigned for tax cuts by saying it was the people’s money, not the government’s money. And he wanted us to keep more of our own money. And the liberals gave him lots of grief about it.
But now that a good liberal like Mathews is saying that it’s our money to start with, maybe it’s okay to talk about people keeping more of their own money, individual liberty including controlling your own money, etc. etc.
He is about to be tax-hiked and suddenly he understands - it is our money - not government’s
Next he will discover he is male.
Chrissy wants more viewers. Let’s just ignore him.
Hey Chrissy, are you still “feeling that tingle down your leg?”!!!!!
“Whoa, what got into him?”
Maybe this time it’s going to be HIS money. Or someone he’s close to.
We need to stop calling what we’re trying to do as “extending the Bush tax cuts”
We should start calling it “stopping the Obama tax hikes”.
Winning the war of words is winning half the battle. Our side simply does not pay nearly as much attention to this as the other side.
Matthews was playing a clip of O'Donnell’s speech made the other day, and he said he was, “Not unimpressed” by it, and then went on saying positive things about her and the way she handled the Witch stories. I couldn't believe what I was hearing from Matthews.
There has been a distinct change in Matthews since the DE primary. He has made several “WTF, Chris Matthews said that!” statements since then.
I’m not sure if the change is genuine, or if he suddenly figured out which way the gravy train was going and decided he better jump on board.
Or maybe he just hates Karl Rove.
I think I know who recently received a call from their accountant...
Wow...wassamatta, Chrisy? That leg tingle turn into a cramp when your boy reaches into your wallet??
Maybe he's figured out that if you keep turning left, you get to Venezuela.
