no, not really.

I have a gun, a wad of cash, and sometimes a wad of express checks. not very interesting. I demand a receipt. I pay cash, and I tell them to use my driver’s license if they require a credit card number for their “files”. If they won’t accept that, i tell them I’m paying cold cash and i will move on down the road where cash is still good if they insist. Usually they change their minds unless it’s a fancy chain hotel where the counter girl is a minimum wage employee.

Well, OK...

I guess you consider pay by phone would be as Orwellian as a credit card or debit card?

Yes, why indeed! You said it was Orwellian, I’m trying to figure out why...

I can simply slide a card through a slot, or - in many cases - just touch it to a PayPass station and pay. How’s the phone different?

serious? you don’t see combining banking and communications into one account as more orwellian?

how bout I combine your driver’s license, your medical id, and your stupid ass ignorance into one implantable chip in your empty head...then make your phone/credit card access that chip before it is allowed to function?

Tell ya what, lets make your brain seek permission from that chip before it is allowed to operate your spinal cord and muscles.

Since you don’t see how any of this is more orwellian I don’t see why you would object. so let’s do it. oh, btw, for all my trouble of thinking it up and putting it all in you via surgery, I want 20 percent of every transaction you make and half of every idea you ever think of if it becomes valuable.

OK?

agree to it or I will shut you out of all banking and telecommunications. your choice. See, you’re still free cuz I’m giving you the choice. nothing orwellian about it.

If you pay with a check they can track all of your purchases just as with a credit card.
