Sounds really interesting.
Rice/blood sausage without the skin ~ sounds vaguely familiar ~ kind of like the rice/blood sausage soaked in a gravy you get with dim sun. I know we don’t have this stuff at home preferring good old fashioned squid on a stick!
Never tried it, but it sounds like it could be good!
In Sweden we have the “blodpudding” (similar to the english black pudding, except the blood is mixed with flour and baked), which I love.
Sharia?
That’s what it appears to be. As disgusting as the food sounds to me (yeah I know, if you’re hungry enough you’ll eat anything) it shouldn’t be banned.
IrishCatholic,
Except for the cilantro and peanut powder, it is exactly like Irish black pudding. Delicious!
People here marvel the Native Americans used to use “every part of a buffalo,” in order to condemn modern society, of course. But back a hundred years ago, EVERY culture did that. Its because they were poor. Our squeamishness comes from our wealth.
Real boudin was banned a long time ago. They did that for health reasons, not political reasons. That’s why boudin you can buy (in a market) today is just meat, rice and spices.
I’ll take your word for it.
Some of us have the heart for adventure.
Some of us don’t.
As Dirty Harry said, a man’s got to know his limitations.
Would be a wonderful dish to serve at Gitmo!
That is a true statement...My father was born in 1901 on a farm in the Michigan thumb....He loved to eat chicken feet and pickled pigs feet....You used every part of any animal you slaughtered....
Not sure if I am remembering correctly but I think even the brain was used in tanning hides...
Americans would also be surprised how much that hasn't really changed, it just goes on behind the scenes before our meat gets to the grocery. For instance, chicken feet is still a delicacy in China. (I have eaten it, but don't particularly care for it). A lot of the chicken feet Chinese people eat is sent from the US, where it is wasted here. Same with dark meat. From what I have seen, KFC in China is practically nothing more than their dark meat chicken outlet, because we prefer the light meat.
Your an Irish Catholic, and you don’t eat your pudding? How can you have your cake, if you don’t eat your pudding?
In VA, we call that “scrapple.”
Fixing things like chicken feet is a lost art. I remember getting a cook book on Amish cooking and one of the receipes was for calf’s head soup......first you get a calfs head. Thats where I quit reading.....:O)
Because I filled up on meat in the first place before I went behind the bikesheds.
